Does anyone have this problem?

well i drive a 94 RX7 almost bone stock. When i reach about 6K rpm my car seems to decrease dramatically in power, almost feels like it is boging, then it kicks and the rpms go up again. It keeps doing this in 3rd gear and somtimes in 4th. Could this be my fuel injectors? If someone could help me out that would be great

shoots

I have the same exact issue on my 94 Touring...I assumed it was normal. I figured it was the restriction from the cat at higher rpm's. I already have a downpipe and I'm putting a midpipe on this weekend to see if it helps the issue.

My car does have a boost guage and the boost pattern's fine. I just think the cat may be clogged which could be causing the restriction

I was talking to the OP....but if your cat really was clogged, you would see the boost start falling off above 6k rpm.

Well it is certainly not normal. Don't know if this comment will help much, but there is definately something wrong. My car has an o-ring that is slowly going bad but anything after about 3 grand and I'm flying like a bat out of hell with his ***** on fire

On a fairly stock car, you should be able to maintain 8 PSI through redline (after the 10-8-10 pattern). If your boost is dropping off more than that, you have a problem.

Well if your boost pattern is normal then what i'm about to say could be a load of crap but here goes:

Probably something to do with the Turbos. Pray you have not damaged the turbos and hope it is just a vacuum line or something. The turbos can get damaged if overheated as many will attest to. Pretty common problem and why some elect to go with an aftermarket single. My car is on the 2nd set actually according to my mechanic. He had to remove them once to replace a coolant pipe and said that it looked like the Turbos had been replaced. I am so careful to let the engine idle for about 2 min. before turning off the ignition. Also you mentioned it is bone stock. You might want to get rid of that stock Pre-cat and replace with a downpipe to make your turbos last longer. This is sort of a "must" upgrade IMHO.

I'm deleting all the off topic posts about turbo timers and letting the car idle to cool off. Post them in one of the existing threads about this. The evidence has been posted many times of how much a bad idea it is to let the car idle to "cool it off". You guys can continue to wallow in ignorance if you choose......any further TT/idle cooling discussion in this thread will be deleted.

if its boosting fine, then i would check your fuel pressure. check your fuel pump.

it could also be your TPS.

for those you want to read why its bad to let the car idle after a hard driving session or use turbo timers here's the link:

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...imer+idle+cool

Gist: drive sanely for the last few minutes and thats plenty to cool the turbos down. And there usually isnt any excuse otherwise unless you are doing tri-athlons with your car? Get over it and drive sanely for the last few minutes.

My boost is sometimes intermittant. Even with a gage it is tough to get clear what is happening. Will be getting a Datalogit shortly. I am hoping that recording the boost while driving will give me a clearer picture. I assume the OP does not have a PFC though, so recording is probably not an option for him.
