do i have to remove the airpump for this task?

Hey guys I just got my 2 3/4 inch silicon coupler to install between the y-pipe and crossover tube, Is there anything that i should pay extra attention when removing the old coupler? and do i have to remove the air pump?

you do not have to remove it, although not having one makes the task easier.....
