Very nice setup Novolari!!! Where did you get your DIN plate from and what type of gauges are those?

Nuvolari 10-27-06 12:24 PM

akiratdk ...aka Sean made the din for me, great work. PM him if you need one made

Gauges , are vintage defi D gauges. They discontinued them , so its was a bitch to get the FP. Greddy has a nice 52mm gauge thas as close to stock looking as these if you cant find any D gauges around .

Thanks for the positive feedback... the car needs it this week.

where can we buy some DIN gauge panels? i want to get one and put it above the cd player

TheRxForSpeed 10-27-06 01:52 PM

The guages i have are autometer cobalts, they look decent during day but dont match stock at all at nite, i am going to switch out all the instrument cluster gauges to match the cobalts eventually

The Miata DIN panel fit fine, it has snap in clips on both sides to hold the panel in without tape so it can be removed with no problem.

Two should fit.

sonix7 makes them out of carbon fibre for 30 bucks or something. he posted a pic of it in this thread and he has a link to his site i believe. im not sure where to get the black plastic looking ones

silverTRD 10-27-06 07:55 PM

These may work: http://egauges.com/vdo_acce.asp?Subgroup=Generic_DIN

I'm going to try them, or something local if I can find it this weekend.

^ confirming that those work. I run one in my FD, above the radio (radio in the bottom DIN slot). Can't beat the price either. I can get pictures if anyone wants.

Update on this project:

Two things bothered me:

First - the boost gauge did not read vac so it only moved when I stepped on it. I wanted a boost/vac and ISSPRO only made one with a white pointer. So I got one and took the red pointer out of the boost only gauge and swapped it with the white (very carefully).

Second - My goal was to have the gauges match the stock as close as possible. That meant chrome rings around the gauges. The black gauge bezels just didnt look right. After trial and error (forget paint, silver leaf, etc) I found some replacements on ebay. I removed the black bezels and mounted these chrome ones.

I have the plain black one from Egauges but other then tape I have no Idea how it would hold. I like the Miata snap in version. I have found a aluminum version that was exteremly nice and posted the link in another thread but I can't find that thread or the saved link in my favorites. I was hoping this was the thread that had it.

see if this works...

as an update: some of the wire taps made a bad connection and I ended up soldering them.

Douglas93FD 07-12-12 10:35 PM

I have been looking through threads about gauges for the past few weeks trying to decide what to do. I discovered this thread and it is awesome. I am going to do a din install and this PDF write up should help me out alot. Thanks.

Added a new link to the file as the old links are all dead.
Still working great once I soldered the joints and dumped those wire taps...
