Nice! thats in my next set of mods
|
That is one hell of a great write up!
I have my water temp gauge in the same spot, and I'll probably put fuel pressure and oil temp in the other two spaces. I have my boost gauge on the steering column for a better line-of-sight. |
Yea, its scarry trying to watch the boost go to 10psi WOT, going 70mph and staying in one lane...
|
Not bad

Nice. I have a two din one but have'nt decided to put it above or below the head unit.
Looks clean. How do they look when driving ? |
I put mine under the headunit because its easier to see. Heres an old picture of my setup:

Like the stock gauges they are hard to read at night but I felt that I would be reaching for the radio so I put the gauges on the bottom. It' would be an easy swap to move them up because of the connectors.
Thanks to alot of info from this forum I took on this project and just wanted to put all the info in one place. |
here is a pic of Defi's in a CF din panel for fun.http://carbonfiberinnovation.com/use...and=1145339502

I was looking at DEFI D gauges but the mechanical boost was discontinued and they were a bit out of my price range. Gotta love the Kenwood radios, picked mine up new for $130. Sounds fine.

I like this set up a lot, however, aren't they hard to read when you're actually driving? also where did u get the DIN Panels for the gauges.... now that I think about it, ne1 know if they make pods that are like those pictured here, exept they tilt a little up? or is that a total custom project...
|
The DIN panel I got was from thompson automotive http://www.thompson-automotive.com/T...tive_Home.html, i believe they actually had some sort of add on you could use with the din panel to give it more of an upward angle, however i don't think that is necessary i can see my gauges fine when mounted underneath the radio. Just my opinion tho.

I prefer having the gauges above the head unit.

Did the Miata DIN plate fit as is? Also, do you think 2 of them would fit properly to fill the entire space? I'm going to pull the stock stereo in my car. It never gets used. |
TheRxForSpeed.. what type of gauges are those? I like them cuz they look like the stock ones from far away...
|
they seem like autometers, but i'm not sure, the carbon fiber ones
|
I though of something and I'm curious to see if anyone has tried it.... ne1 ever mount some gauges where the visor by your head is? not sure how that would look/work...just curious
