Differences of power
Differences of power
Hi,
I'm looking for RX7 FD3S model but I hesitate between two of them, so I would like to know if there is a huge difference between FD models until 1995 (255 cv) models with 265 cv and 280 cv models (from 1999) ?
I mean is there a real difference of perf which can explain the difference of the price between each other ?
Someone asked me if I was interressed by 2 cars :
Mazda Rx-7 FD3S special edition Bathurst RB (year : 1998)
36 000 km (near 22500 miles) some option (air, nice kit,...) and stock engine except the exhausts which has been changed.
Price : 23 500 € (with the USD rate it's near of 34 545 $)
Or
Mazda RX-7 FD3S Type RS (2001)
39 000 km (24 375 miles), stock engine, a complet exhaust, central lock, no autoradio (it's a 280 cv - 276 horsepowers model), the driver seat has been changed for a great Recaro
Price : 24 900 € (36 603 $)
These 2 cars come from Japan directly, in the price homologation is inclued and all obliged changes (the fuel rate 110 change for accept 98),...
I've some pics of these 2 cars, if someone can tell me if it's too expensive or if it's a chance ?
The thing which can make me prefer the 2nd one is because of it's more powefull but if there's no difference of perf between these 2 cars which can explain the difference of 1 400 € I think I'll prefer the 1st one.
I though the engine after 1999 (since the power grow up) was "stronger" and couldn't be broken as before but it seams that no !
Thank you so much for the answers
V

The 2001 has the 99+ turbochargers, which are a little better than the older ones and will produce a little more power. But the engines are not any different.
If it were me selling I'd sell the 2001 for more because it's not been modified with a kit and it's a later model year. The price difference here is smaller than I would have expected.
