First thing: I used the search function and failed to find a post regarding the differences between a Touring and a Base Model. There were posts regarding R1/R2 versus the others, however, none that shown the differences for the Touring versus the Base Model.

So...my obvious question is:

What are the differences between the Touring Model and the Base Model?

 

The touring has everything the base has plus:

Leather seats, Bose audio system (w/CD), sunroof, cruise control

I wouldn't be surprised to see a few base models running around with a few of those options since I'm sure you could have them specially ordered on the car.

 

On the Touring model, was the sunroof standard OR an option? The car I'm looking at MAY or MAY NOT have a sun roof. That is why I am trying to distinguish between a Base Model and a Touring.

 

I don't think it was optional in '93. After that I think they were PEP/PEG models so everything was optional.

It was just like any other car today when you add on a certain package. You could have bought a base and added all of the things that were on a touring if you wanted. But you could just say that you wanted a Touring Rx-7 and it came with sunroof, cruise, foglights, leather, Bose Wave stereo and maybe a few other things I am forgetting. Also you could add on top of that. Mine is a Touring but was also bought with the r1 wing. it just depended on how the original owner bought it and what options they got. But if it is an Rx-7 with the touring package then it has a sunroof. If it has all of the other goodies that the touring does and no sunroof than it wasn't purchased with the Touring package, it was just added with the goodies individually.
