Did Top Gear never make an episode on the FD3S?

Ive being searching for a while now...

I cannot find ANY evidance that Top Gear has ever made an episode on the FD3S, i was very disapointed! How could they just ignore the FD?

There is an old video about the FC... however i really wish they test drove it.

Do you guys know anything about this?!!?

This did test drive the FC. The did a side by side comparison with the Porsche 944 with it. But to my knowledge they never tested the FD.

The FD has been mentioned on the show before. I believe when it was mentioned Richard Hammond referred to the FD as "a bit daft" but gave no explanation why. The FD I believe was also in Clarkson's Top 100 video but not in any sort of tests. I think I have that video on a disc somewhere.

pwwatkins 10-02-07 06:58 PM

They did an rx-8

apexFD 10-02-07 07:02 PM

Hmmm, "daft"

Definiton:

daft /dæft, dɑft/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[daft, dahft] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–adjective, -er, -est. 1. senseless, stupid, or foolish.
2. insane; crazy.
3. Scot. merry; playful; frolicsome.

I hope Richard as refering to definition #2 and in a good way. If they truely do not like the FD then i would loose a LOT of respect for Top Gear... there is NO way that an FD chassis and engine can be concidered rubish.

Pulling a .97 skid pad STOCK... enough sayed, the FD wins all the number games for its time, and then some.

They did an FC on the old top gear and I think they did the rx8?

oh wow I was linked to this in another thread and didn't read the date sorry...

TwinTurboSC 02-13-10 08:03 PM

They did the FD and 3000GT, although slightly leaning towards the 3000GT.

Doesnt the FD pull .99 g??

And also, who cares if they dont like the FD, alot of people dont like the FD. That doesnt mean their assessment for other cars shouldnt be acknowledged. If they did imply the FD was stupid, which im assuming they didnt, then thats their opinion. It still doesnt change the fact that the FD is no doubt a great sports car.

I mean have you seen their "cool wall" lately?? Do you know what cars they have under not cool?? You'd wanna smack them.

That being said, if they dont like the FD, who cares. Not everyone has to. Some people like it, some dont. Who cares.

Supernaut 02-13-10 08:45 PM

There was an older episode with just the FD when thr blonde was a host.

Finster 02-13-10 08:49 PM

Good find!
Egad! the 3000gt is ugly sitting next to the fd

John631 02-13-10 09:05 PM

Wow now I don't feel so bad I dug up this thread. I really like Jeremy Clarksons old school hair...lol

arghx 02-13-10 09:09 PM

there was an episode reviewing the 99. I saw a clip of it a couple years ago.

Enervation 02-13-10 09:49 PM

Sadly back then the show was more serious, and less like the top gear we know today. I have a feeling the FD would fare better under todays top gear than it did in those early episodes.

Daft = Being stupid or appearing stupid.

They tend to not like anything that isn't European, preferably English.

EvanchiX 02-14-10 08:40 AM

Top Gear is the best car show on TV, wish we had something remotely as good in the US!

CharlieUK 02-14-10 09:41 AM

wow, I didn't know that you guys in the US watched Top Gear, how do you put up with it when the presenters make fun out of the Americans and American cars?

Yes, a bit daft is a bit stupid.

Top Gear is alot different to what it used to be like, they say that now you don't even need to like cars to like the show, it's more funny now!!

Well done for digging up the old video on utube, yeah that hair is out of control....

I like the shows when they do tasks around the World. In particular when they went to the States and drove American cars across the "Bible belt" states... was sooo funny what they wrote on eachothers cars to provoke the Southerners, Clarkson in his Transam (I think) that had been involved in a murder and James May's Cadillac that wallowed around like a Hippo trying to be a ballerina....

Then there was the Vietnam one where they had to use motorcycles, it was amusing seeing Clarkson getting soaked in the rain witth a bucket for a helmet...hahaha

I've been trying to get in the audience but apparently there is a 3 year wait...:(

arghx 02-14-10 10:21 AM

^ dude... sometimes we make fun of american cars and the people who drive them (redneck Camaro stereotype, old man Corvette stereotype). the jokes aren't new. And don't worry, lots of Americans make fun of Land Rover depreciation and Jaguar reliability

Rotary Yo 02-14-10 10:27 AM

motor week has the rx-7 with the 300z supra and 3000gt and they liked the rx7 way better.

1QWIK7 02-14-10 10:29 AM

Yeah i mean clarkson is in deep love with jaguar and never really liked the porsche turbo.

And we get mad if they dont like the FD??

LOL
