Delayed boost.

Searched around but running out of ideas now.

Just got everything back together after FPD replacement.

Boost is delayed it seems. Up to 3k RPM I have ~1 or 2 PSI, at 3k there is almost a gasping sound and full boost, transition is fine and boost holds strong there after.

Vacuum reads the same as always, boots spiked a little higher then normal (.98 bar). It does sound like the turbos are spooling up before 3k.

Is there a connection on the UIM that would possible cause this type of issue if I missed it? There is also a blue connection under the UIM that I don’t remember if I needed to reconnect or not, since I have the sequential simplification done a lot of those connection were eliminated.

Probably going to end up a solenoid, any ideas what one could cause and issue like this?

Weee, ideas would be spiffy.

If the blue connector is toward the front of the UIM, it is supposed to be unconnected. I believe this is related to CA cars only and the function of the EGR. As to your turbo boost problem, if everything worked before, it should work now. I would just double check to be sure you have everything hooked back up correctly. Rob Robinette's web site has a hose diagram of the sequential simplification.

Blue connection is on the UIM, but under it. Almost dead center. Reconnected it for ***** and giggles but did not change.

Gone though it 3 times of removing and reconnecting everything. Checked the hoses for leaks everything seems to be holding fine. Everything is plumbed correctly, even followed the map so close last time I almost forgot to put the FPR solenoid back in (It's not in the map if you notice)

Any other ideas? Maybe what solenoid would hold untill 3k. Pre-control maybe?

Bump.

If the unused connector is light blue with an orange insert, then it is for the the EGR (but I thought you eliminated that). If the unused connector is light blue and between the orange and grey connectors, then it goes to the "Releif 1" solenoid, which is used for the ACV (I thought you eliminated this as well).

This boost issue is a really strange one. The only thing that's supposed to happen around 3krpm is pre-spool.

I'd guess a boost leak.
Get a boost reading from the Y-pipe also and compare what your read at UIM.

If there's big difference (more then 5psi), then you're having boost leak.

Fixed.

NFC what it was. After the 4th time reinstalling the UIM. Triple checking everything that needed to be connected was connected, it still had the problem.

In a 1/2 rage 1/2 fed up manner, I disconnected the battery, reached my hand under the UIM and forcefully moved everything from side to side, banging on solenoids and the like. Reconnected the battery, started it up. Running better then it has in a long time. Even idling smoother then it has in a long time.

Baby needed some tough love i guess. Still going WTF? heh

I presume that ;

1) if the problem returns soon without anything changing, it's a solenoid.
2) if it doesn't return, a hose or connection was being kinked or loose.
