Dash harness differences

I have a few questions that I'm not able to find an answer to through searching the forums. My car is a 93 Canadian PEP with the cruise control and AC removed, which was also an AT car, but was converted to manual. There was a lot of corrosion damage to the dash and instrument harnesses so I elected to repair the instrument harness, but out right replace the dash harness. The harness I received seems to be from a 93 MT without sunroof and, as to be expected, does have differences. The one that is bugging me is on connector X-08, the new harness is missing a large gauge blue/white wire. There are also a few differences in the door connectors that I have not tracked down yet - as far as I knew, there were no differences in the doors.

You'll probably need to post some pictures of the wiring in question. I know the big difference is whether or not you have the Bose system, that changes quite a bit with the wiring.

Might be able to look at the part numbers for that harness and see how many variations there are - MT/AT, Bose-Non-bose, sunroof, etc.

The parts fiche lists dash 4 harnesses for 93 - MT without sunroof, AT without sunroof, MT with sunroof, AT with sunroof. If the main difference is the Bose system, I was not planning on running it in my car, just a simple stereo. The center speaker and amp are already gone from mine.

I know the "side" harnesses that go from the dash harness to the back of the car are different with Bose cars - the Bose cars didn't have rear speakers and that harness doesn't have the wiring for the rear speakers. I'm not sure if that's true with the dash harness as well. Lot of the Bose stuff is just odd.

BC L/W at X-08

Chart Z-119 of the 1994 USDM wiring manual shows an [L/W] wire on X-08. The square bracket signifies it is related to the automatic transmission. There is also an " * ", but I'm not sure what that means.

Looking through the manual we see other L/W associated with: The Starter cut off, Heater Control/Blower, Bose radio Relay, Doorswitch (CPU 1E pin) , sliding sunroof and several other locations.

It seems the bulk of the wiring is for the Bose stereo and all of its amplifiers, so perhaps those would be the differences in the door harness connectors. I would still like to retain my sunroof and heater function, of the L/W wire goes to the HVAC system as well.

Or if someone has a Bose / sunroof dash harness they'd be willing to part with.

BC Random L/W

My sense is that L/W were used randomly in different applications within the system and that it is not a single L/W wire servicing those various points. For instance the Blower connection runs between G-05 and G-01. The bose line connects to J2-05, etc.

Someone at Valley Auto Sales just sold an LHD for scrap. Might want to chase that car down.
