Daily driver: Rx-7?
Daily driver: Rx-7?
How many here use their Rx-7s for a daily-driver (modded or unmodded)?
I recently bought a 1993 vintage red touring model with about 26,000 miles that I plan to use as a semi-regular daily driver. The car is a beauty, it's been baby'd since day one. Everything is stock except new rims. I live in WNY (yuck!) so of course I can't drive it in the winter, but for the other 7-8 months it's perfect conditions for it.
Since it's stock I know she has some heating problems, but I never drive the car hard or even speed. I always let the engine idle for a few minutes when I get back from driving to lower the oil pressure and then I turn off the engine and run the aux fan till the hood is nice and cool. It's a bit of work - but hey, the 7 never loses! ;D
Besides switching to NSG+ coolant, are there any other precautions I can take to ensure the life of my car? I was looking at a fluidyne radiator maybe, but the car is soo so clean, I'd like to avoid any aftermarket parts if I don't really need them.
Rotary engines are pretty damn durable if you take care of them with aggressive maintenance and always let the turbos cool, but I'm worried about things like carbon build up on the rotors sending her to an early grave.

Personally, I wouldn't be subjecting such a clean low mileage car to the daily grind....buy a beater.
