cloud9 06-23-04 03:30 PM

everyone says they are overkill for the street but if you track your car I hear they are awesome, sorry I don't have the number btw

Mahjik 06-23-04 03:36 PM

"CrispyRX7" has them (or at least had them). I think he's still using them.

rynberg 06-23-04 03:49 PM

Overkill unless you are running on the track regularly.

I will be posting my review of the Rotary Extreme dual 25-row oil coolers later this week. You might want to see my comments in addition to reading Chris Regan's (CrispyRX7) fine write-up on his site.

Crooked willow is out of business...

dis1 06-23-04 03:58 PM

I might be doing a group buy on these in a few months. 10 to 15% off. Not if they are out of business though. If they are it is news to me. Can anybody confirm this?

DaleClark 06-23-04 04:58 PM

I think Duane's been out of the game for some time.

But, all the CWC stuff was of excellent quality and design.

They ought to take down their web page, then. :)

I think both Duane and David have posted here in the not so distant past (I seem to remember a post in the big brake group buy from David), but it's been awhile since I've heard from either one.

PandazRx-7 06-23-04 05:26 PM

Hmmm... that's wierd. I was able to communicate with Duane through emails about 2 months ago.

David and Duane were two separate entities. That is an important distinction. Duane (CWR/CWC) was, uh, not timely in delivering product. IC duct anyone?

Neither was David, but I thought they were the original "founders" of Crooked Willow. No?

turbojeff 06-23-04 05:33 PM

Well I'm not sure, David I think had a separate business (Widefoot?) and just let Duane sell Widefoot products.

rynberg 06-23-04 05:34 PM

Duane responded to my emails re: the oil cooler setup about 2-3 months ago. If they are out of business, it's been since then.

yzf-r1 06-23-04 06:01 PM

how about a going out of business sale for some of their polished goodies? :) that IC was nice but the intake duct was about a year in delivery lol

potatochobit 06-24-04 06:22 AM

i recently got some mounts from duane, it took awhile but they did arrive. i think he is still in business, but it is just a hobby for him i think.

Jay7 Nyc 06-24-04 09:56 AM

I just recieved my crooked willow oil coolers maybe 2 and a half weeks ago. I still have not installed them cause I have some other issues with my car right now..

I have to disagree. I had the CWC Dual oil cooler kit and it was a shitty design to say the least. The oil cooler thermostat is connected to the engine block by a single 90 degree fitting supporting it's weight. This fitting has cracked on me TWICE causing my car to leak oil from it all over the track. Thank god I saw my oil light in time or else it could have led to an expensive rebuild. After having this happen to my two times, I decided to completely redo all the lines and fittings so now the car runs fine.

Also, if you ever want to get a FMIC, it won't work with this oil cooler kit because of the position the oil cooler thermostat is located.

mike9164 06-24-04 11:09 AM

hey rynberg i checked out the oil cooler on rotary extreme...very nice but a little more expensive than crooked willow's.( not complaining ) i'm looking to get one soon and if you have some good or bad info on the rotary extreme ones could you please tell me because i may purchase them before your review goes up.
if you want to wait to put up the whole review could you just pm me with some info.
thanks,mike

I have the stock r1 dual oil cooler set up for sale if any one is interested. PM me!
$800 complete with all brackets and oil lines. Just bolt on.

Pulled from a 93 R1 with 19k original miles. excellent condition.

rynberg 06-24-04 01:49 PM

No one's going to pay that much for the stock setup, even if it only has 19k miles on it. You'd be lucky to get $600.

dis1 06-24-04 03:40 PM

I wouldn't pay $200.

Interesting,

I have a set of their coolers and helped install a set on a car here in Houston last month. If they went under it was just recently.

Their parts worked great but installing them was tricky at times.

elmo908 06-24-04 04:46 PM

twin coolers are never overkill on a car that runs hot.
