anyone think its possible to have too good of oil cooling, so much that the oil never reaches the operating temperature?

ObliqueFD 02-05-04 09:19 PM

Great Job! Is it very hard getting in and out with that roll cage?

Yes it is but that's why you have to put an inline thermostat. Usually they start opening around 170* and are fully open by 180* or so.

My car is an R2 so it had twin coolers. They have been transferred over to my girls R1 because her's were missing. The Fluidyne i have is about equal to the two stock coolers. The reason i set mine up this way was so i could also put a tranny cooler on the passenger side. The TH350 that's in the car now with it's huge stall will need every bit of the Mocal.

It's very hard at 1st but gets a little easier with practice. I'm 6'2" so the FD cockpit is already a little tight. I had to lower the seat about an 1" so i could sit comfortably with my helmet on. Until i did that i couldn't even put my head upright.

Scrapiron7 02-06-04 07:11 AM

Nice gauges! Too bad I could never drive around using Kilometers in the states. I would get confused :)

fastcarfreak 02-06-04 07:21 AM

that must make a sweet track ride! are you gonna have it registered for street use?

dubulup 02-06-04 08:12 AM

so a JMD cluster/hood thing fits in a LHD? Not that you have a problem with hacking things up to make it work ;)

NIIIIIICE avatar too

that is going to be one hell of a track car!! What's your girls car set-up like??

What color is your ride? or is it multiple colors right now?

93 R1 02-06-04 08:48 AM

looks good man.

jdhuegel1 02-06-04 09:14 AM

Holy shit. Awesome work!!

kempo 02-06-04 10:23 AM

amazing, car keep it up

silvr94r2 02-06-04 08:11 PM

thanks guys! The car is going to be fully streetable with occasional track time. It's going to be a 9 sec. street car with the hopes of going 8's. Please don't flame me for my goals. These are my goals and i don't really see too much of a problem getting there.

Right now we have 2 of the quickest/fastest Supra's in the country so i have a little experience. The only thing that might slow me down a little is getting the rotary to hold up long enough to get the car dialed in.

My girls car is more of a street/drift setup. I'm teaching her the art of drifting. It's got a streetported motor with the HKS T04E kit. It's also got a very girly paint job on it....the color is a light blue metallic with a couple of pearls. The car changes quite a few different colors.

My car is silver but the bumper is chrome-illusion crap that i bought off of someone. It's getting repainted in the next couple of weeks. It'll be staying silver for sure......just a flawless silver:)

the_glass_man 12-01-04 03:03 PM

Nice any updates?

REAmemiya FD3S 12-01-04 03:10 PM

yup...he'll be getting FEED rear quarter fender flares soon =)

1QWIK7 12-01-04 04:14 PM

damn nice!!

SRA-FD3S 12-01-04 04:30 PM

very nice

widebody2 12-01-04 04:36 PM

Is that the apexi fmic with a custom IC pipe to the elbow? I did the same thing but haven't tried to put my hood back on yet. I know it is going to be very very tight and will most like be doing some trimming to get it to fit. I was wondering how much hood clearance you had over there?

cloud9 12-01-04 05:04 PM

your BOV is F#*@ing HUGE!! more pics of the car please :D

Looks like you have a nice setup going. If you don't mind me asking, what ems(Don't use the AEM, I know you Supra boys like it, but its not what you want for the 7), what turbo and most important, what tranny? I too have the same goal for a 9 sec street car, but the problem with these car is not the engine, its the tranny. When you start making over 650rwhp, the input and output shafts snap like twigs.

rotoboy661 12-01-04 05:30 PM

clean azz car brotha

u do the work urself???

if so congrats

Actually quite a few.....more than i can actually remember right now. The whole front suspension is now chrome moly with heim joints. The Flaming River manual rack is in, the Afco coil-overs are in, the parachute mount is on, the TH350 is in and the converter will be here in a few days. The new Bogarts are on order, the Aerospace brakes are almost done front and rear. The intercooler will now be right behind the front bumper along with the radiator. Did that to make room for a custom cold/ram air setup. The list goes on and on.....and the new intake manifold is almost done along with the new exhaust manifold to house the GT45 which will be tried after the T88 is completely maxed out.

Here are a few random pics that i have on my computer right this minute....this one shows the Mocal thermostat in its new spot.

This one shows the Wiggins quick disconnects for the automatic tranny cooler lines
http://www.mustangmods.com/data/6966/new_engine6.jpg

This has the new fuel filter mount i picked up.....what a pain in the ass mounting it here.

There wasn't any clearance problems at all with my setup. It's actually got quite a bit of room to spare. It's now a little different from these pics so i'll try and post the new ones up pretty soon.

Yes i will be going with the AEM on my car. I've got the AEM on my supercharged Mustang and on my AE86. It kinda helps having the guy who wrote the software doing the tuning i guess. Right now i've got the T88 and will max it out before switching over to my new GT45. My buddy just upgraded to the GT47 on his Supra so i picked up the barely used 45 to try. The tranny is a TH350 with a custom converter (is there any other?) so i won't have to worry about breaking those parts.

I'm gonna really push the car because my goal is to keep up or beat my Supra buddies. That's a really tall order because they're in the high 8's to low 9's. Those are just the local guys i'm referring to.

Jism 12-01-04 06:19 PM

Watch out with those guages, i just got flammed for trying to find aftermarket white face guages.

silvr94r2 12-01-04 06:29 PM

Jism: i don't understand.....you mean people will flame me for having them or the guages are bad? Mine are authentic Mazdaspeed guages.....let them flame away if they so desire.

haha well i just started a thread to find aftermarket whiteface/indiglo guages because i would definetly not get some shitty ones on ebay. And I started getting flamed because they were like, people in civics mod guages. And then they started asking me what mods i had to my car yada yada yada. One guy was like, befor i mod i think if i roll up to a porsche i think if i would be embarassed by my mod and i was just like wow. So i showed them like 10 links of rx7 owners with white/glo guages.

cliffnotes, your car is beautiful and i think you have wonderful taste. I can't wait to see what it looks like all done.

prrex4ever 12-01-04 07:50 PM

Totally awesome ride. Can't wait to see the finished product or hear about how it runs.

Good luck. I agree with everything your doing with the expception of the AEM. You will have ignition problems. The Supra coil on plug design is great, but the stock coils (even MSD) just don't cut it for the 7. I went with the Tec 3. I actually will be dynoing in the next few weeks so I'll post my results. Your tranny is the right ticket. Demetrios K. ran the same tranny to a 8.40@164mph all turbo. You'll need atleast a 6k stall. BTW.....whats your name. I have a few close friends locally with 9 sec. Supra's ie.....Matt Miller, Tony M., Jimmy P.

RE-Amemiya 12-01-04 08:22 PM

Nice pictures of all the stuff.

And i love the goals!!

cabaynes 12-01-04 10:09 PM

i love your car... track FD's are so hot :) however my track FD will be for circuit use, not the drag strip. but your is definitely bad ass, nice and clean work

93'roadwarrior 12-01-04 11:25 PM

Dude your car is going to BE PIMP!!! actually it already IS! shoot I wish I could do that w/ my FD soon

C-westin'FD 12-01-04 11:43 PM

Sweet!!!

The stall should be between 6500 and 7000 according to my converter company.

My name is Elliott and i'm with Virtual Works Racing. I've heard of your friends on the Supraforums. Matt and Tony are the king of 6spds. other than Ryan Woon right?

We have the fastest no nitrous Supra in the world. It would've been possibly the fastest street driven Supra a week ago but something let go. We were on a pass from hell. It went 8.8 @ 156 the 1st pass going 121 in the 1/8th. The next pass it went 129mph in the 1/8th and let go just pass half track and coasted to a 9.1 @ 130. We ran out of octane with the C16. The VPimport will be going in for nitrous passes from now on.

silvr94r2 12-02-04 06:25 AM

Thanks to everyone and your kind words. I'll take some more pics and post them up as as i can.

The next couple of months are going to be very exciting.

The new rear fenders and the new front fenders will allow me to run much wider tires. I can't wait to get out on the dragstrip to try and show these Supra's a thing or two.

Speedworks 12-02-04 11:56 AM

Can you post some specs about the oil cooler? Dimensuions etc? I started a thread a fe w weeks ago about reducing the stock duals to 1 bigger permance cooler to free up the passenger bumper airduct for other purposes (air duct annd such)??

Thanks
Neal

get ready for a loud and clunky ride...... solid heim joints aren't fun. Mine are loud as hell.
