Correct Boost Pattern Testing

Btw, I searched under Boost pattern and got tons of threads, none of which answered my question.

Just installed a digital boost/temp gauge from SPA. You sort of have to play with the programming to get the right voltage offset so the boost reads right.

My question is...........It has a peak hold feature and I'm thinking that the way I know if I have it dialed in is to go WOT in third gear; based on my mods I should see a max of around 10psi, right?

At my current setting I'm getting a max of 10 or so in third............ but if I go WOT in Second gear I'll get a max of 11.5 or so, and if I put the engine under load in fourth say at around 60mph I will see max's of around 11. 5 also.

Does the gauge seem set right, based on the third gear WOT max?

Thanks.

Youre boost sounds OK.You should get more boost in
3rd than 2nd.

One thing to consider is that different gauges may show different boosts even on the same engine, the point is I wouldn't calibrate it based on what your engine should be putting out because it may be putting out something different. There should be instructions to calibrate in the manual. I hope that wasn't too confusing, I'm tired. Good luck

Nope........no instructions on calibration, it's electronic and you just sorta zero out the voltage to eliminate the background noise............unfortunately when you do that you get boost readings like 25 or so. This is at a backround setting of around .88 volts. When the background was 1.02 volts, I zeroed against that and then got a high of around 15 or so. So I got in and programmed it manually and entered a background of 1.1, which gives me a high of around 10.5 in third at WOT, but does give me some 11's in second and under load in 4th.

Thus my question. Assuming my FD is strong, with my mods, should I see of about 10, in third, at WOT?

That's about the only way I guess I can "calibrate".
