Coolant sprayed the car underboost ??
 

So i know the they title maybe a little misleading but here is my dilemma. Took the car out no hood as some of you know that just how i roll. on the way back this dude in damn accord was driving me nuts with all his slow ass pulls next to me.

so i decided i had enough of him and pulled away HARD. i was at 7k in 3rd and i let off and and as soon as i did so coolant splashed my entire windshield and inside the car. WTF ?? so i drove a bit to the next exit car was pretty much fine. pulled over and looked to see if it was leaking anything. NOTHING NADA ZILCH.

Car started to warm up under idle to about 99c. turned the car off for maybe 3mins let the fans run. cranked it back up chilled at 95c and got on the highway and the car was fine and went down to about 86c normal temp. as soon as i got home the car started to heat up again and this is where im at now. lol.

Car drive fine, Feels strong, and smells about right.

im gonna go over the car tomorrow to tired to think. any suggestion.

Sprayed your windshield inside the car? Heater core exploded maybe? LOL. Never really heard of that. The only coolant lines that run near your windshield are heater lines and your throttle body coolant line.

well first off i have absolutely no idea where the hell it sprayed out off. i do know that it came from under thhe hood and sprayed my windshield up i know it came from under the hood because i had no hood on tonite.

Just wanted to comment to say I hope you cleaned or go clean it off the car, coolant is corrosive to paint.

Did the coolant spray on the inside or outside of the windshield?

You mention getting coolant inside the car, there is really only one place where coolant can come from if it is spraying inside the car...... Heater core or lines.


Or did you just have your windows open?

sorry i was super tired when i typed this. coolant sprayed from under the hood and into the car. and all over the wind shield.

Well coolant is easy to trace. Grab a coolant system pressure tester at autozone and pump the system up. You'll find the leak easy :) had a mysterious leak on my truck. Pumped up the system and clearly showed me a tiny crack in my plastic end tank. Only leaked while the system was pressurized.

well i added some coolant into the system today about cup and half or so nothing crazy. started the car up warmed up quickly and got to normal operating temp and never heated up past 86c.

took it for a spin and it never heated up past 87c And absolutely ZERO LEAKS on the cooling system.

Gotta say that this is one of the most bizarre experiences i have had with FD so far.


any suggestion to would have caused the coolant system spray coolant out of any area under the hood ?

^ Is your coolant overflow tank full?

someone already gave you a perfect solution but of course, as most here do ignored it and want an easy answer.


my answer would have been the same, without the documentary.


you may also have the beginnings of a coolant seal failure. pressure from the engine overpressurizing the cooling system has to go somewhere.

When coolant got on my windshield it was from the coolant hose under the UIM to the block. There was a hairline split in it..spraying some on my windshield. Happened after a 3rd gear 7K pull as well.

But I have no idea about it getting inside your car.

LOL i haven't ignored what he said i just haven't gotten the chance to head to autozone and grab one. Only half a day since i posted this. once i have some time today other than to add coolant and drive the car around for 10mins i will do so.

I hope it's not a coolant seal that was one of my initial thought. really not trying to pull this all out and start over again ugh. i take such good care of this motor. LOL.

just wanted to be sure it was acknowledged, i see threads drag on for weeks where no tests are done and it's very irritating.

THIS exactly happened to me. there was a TINY tiny split in my hose so tiny it was barely noticable , but when I opened the hood I noticed hte hood was sprayed .. turned hte car on and watched for it . and it was pretty obvious then . fixed that and I'm hoping thats all it was .
