gabe[7] 02-01-08 04:16 PM

and sorry i spelt "reservoir" wrong

Archie 02-01-08 04:27 PM

Dude... that is outrageous!! I got mine from Malloy Mazda for $200 at MOST! Give them a call, their contact info is around here somewhere.

MrNizzles 02-01-08 04:28 PM

$750 huh ? is that one of those new platinum and gold plated reservoirs that "cools" 350% better than a standard, non-plated reservoir?

adam c 02-01-08 05:00 PM

Why do you think its broken?

gracer7-rx7 02-01-08 05:19 PM

Do you mean AST? They tend to break often.

You can buy new replacements for $150.
Go here http://rx7.com/store/rx7/fdengine_cooling.html
and scroll down to
AST Air Separator Tank

If you are talking about that plastic tank in front of the passenger side front wheel, buy a used one here from someone or call Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda. His contact is in the FAQ thread which you should read regardless: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/faq-3rd-gen-other-useful-links-68640/

If you're referring to the AST, I have one in EXCELLENT shape for... umm, I think it's listed at $35? Anyways, if you're interested, I'll look into it for you. I can have it shipped by tomorrow :)

EDIT: It's $30 shipped ;) It's the piece in pic#4 all the way to the right, under the rear turbo inlet pipe:

Brand new ASTs are $75. Brand new coolant overflow reservoirs are about $150. $750 has to be a mistake.

Call malloy, Ray will absolutely get you the right part and you'll get a very fair price.

got a coolant recovery tank from Malloy a couple months ago for around 85 with the short hose attached....

mdpalmer 02-01-08 07:50 PM

I bought one from Malloy too for about $85 shipped to my door. Had a couple drinks and installed it in about an hour :) $750 for replacing the coolant overflow OR AST is retarded.

It's unlikely that there is anything wrong with your overflow tank. It sounds like it is just overflowing. There can be a number of reasons for this to happen. I suggest that you remove your airbox, and start the engine. Make sure that nothing can fall into the intake tubes before you start it. Let the engine warm up, and watch for where the leak comes from. It's most likely that the overflow tank is overflowing, and is functioning properly.

GoodfellaFD3S 02-01-08 10:22 PM

The overflow tank is overfilling? Is the motor running fine, no smoke or hard starting? I'm just thinking worst-case scenario :)

Me too :(
