compression tube/ intake elbow
compression tube/ intake elbow
ok, I still have the stock compression tube, was just wondering is there a reason why every one changes it to the aluminuim ?
I'm just wondering why , because i'm thinking of cranking the boost to 20 psi will the stock elbow hold up?
any one with experience high hp with stock compression tube?

I still have stock everything though.

Aluminium looks better, and doesn't crack and split like plastic. It can be tapped for AI. Greddy elbow is required for most aftermarket v-mount/frontmount/smic's. Also aluminum holds up a lot better for t-bolt clamps. Some of the t-bolts will crush aluminum if you're not careful, I can only imagine what would happen to plastic.
Now, there are some kits especially the japanese ones that use the stock pipe, but imo they are really dumb looking the way the piping is connected to them.
Basically, aesthetics and needed for a lot of aftermarket setups.
If you're planning 20psi what are you currently using for turbo and IC?

The fmics i've seen with the stock elbow has some really funky bends in it.
