common fd problems?

need a little first had experiance from you guys here
i have a integra gsr and i will be selling it. the reason? well i recently dynoed it at 597whp@26psi on 110oc....but its still front wheel drive. a huge disadvantage. as it is, there are very few options for traction at this point while still keeping it a street car.i was looking into the fd as my first choice since i personally think supras are played out.
now for the questions, from what i have read here there are not as many problems with the FD as people say. however i think what i have read just in the treads may be misleading since people never post up every problem they have with thier cars.
talking to several fd owners have said their demons have rested in mainly blown turbos, an stuff such as that. they have also said alot about oil leaks, burning oil and things of that nature that could be somthing alot more serious than a leaky oil pan gasket or blown turbo.
really what i am asking is what problems have you had? anything major? what are common problems?
thanks in advance

Heat is number one. If you could remove at least 200 degrees from under the hood I think it would eliminate most of the troubles found in an FD.
The obvious things are:
Overheating - bad on seals, and makes pre-ignition
Fried turbo manifolds - They crack from the extreme heat cycles.
Hoses get hard as a rock - This is not good for a vacuum/pressure sensitive car.

The not so obvious things are:
Solenoids and sensors go bad because of heat. They are buried so it's hard to test them.
Oil abuse - The oil goes through hell when it passes through the turbos. Changing it often is very important.

Other than heat, I would say you are limited in drive train strength such as axles, and power plant frames. If you could make enough power to break them, I think you will find that an FD is not as street friendly as say a 600hp supra.

The number one problem I have with my FD is its age. Plastic breaks, shift ***** wear, leather wrinkles, and people don't normally stick around after they dented your door. Other than that, an FD is a great car, and I have loved mine for the past six years.

yeah every rotary owner i have talked to said they heat up fast as hell and run very hot.
i looked on the noobie page and one link is bad and the other doesn't say anything about common problems.

i have a firend who had a touring 94 fd and due to a leaky fuel rail and the hot motor he had an engine fire. this is not the only time i have heard of this happening.

i know to reduce heat i can get a downpipe to replace the precat, better radiator, either eliminate or get an aftermarket ast, and get a water temp gauge since no stock temp gauge ever told anyone much.

what about rebuilds? i am pretty much sure i am done with trying to get more power than i would ever need, so i woudl like to keep a stock motor. im not trying to hit 600whp, i would rather have a car that can handle more power than my front drive honda. my integra couldn't keep the wheels stuck to the ground with 322whp, but i still tought it to be a good idia to build it and get more power so i learned a good leson there

First, check the FAQ link:
http://rx7.voodoobox.net/infofaq/bguide3g/bguide3g.html

Next, use the search function here on the forum:
https://www.rx7club.com/search.php

Use searches like:

rebuild AND price
blown AND engine
turbos AND blown
maintenance
rats AND nest
emissions
bushings AND replace
which AND ecu
fuel AND system AND upgrade

Those will bring up quite a few threads for you to read through and get an idea about the car.
