Cold start issues?

Hey all,

It's 40F outside, not necessarily cold in wisconsin. But the problem is my car is turning over but not starting. It's been in the 80's lately, and it's started and warmed up perfectly. I'm running castrol 20w-50. My powerFC shows 5c for both intake and engine temp. Are rotaries known for problems with starting in colder temps? I searched archives to info but couldn't find much.

Thanks,
John

Sorry, I got it running. I risked it, and let it turn over for a good 20 seconds to let the oil warm up a bit. She wouldn't want to start but she's idling now. I apologise, would a mod please delete this?

Thanks again,
John

Cranking the starter for 20 seconds won't have any noticable affect on oil temps, and though 20w50 oil is a little stiff at 40 F., I can't imagine it has alot to do with hard starting.
FWIW my car starts with no problem at much colder temps. I don't think the problem is typical, at least not at those temps. It could be alot of different things. I guess if it's been a while, I'd start with the typical tune-up stuff, new plugs etc.

And this time of year in the northern midwest, I'd probably run something like 10w-30. Good luck.

Well I meant to get the oil moving around, not necessarily heat it up. My temps did go up 2c when I cranked it over though. I did an oil change last night, put in 10W40. I'm gonna check my plugs, and see how they look.

Thanks,
John
