Sup gents,

Tried searching for an old thread that someone posted about making your own check valves. Im having boost issues and im almost 100% sure its because my check valves are getting gummed up. ( very hard to blow through ). Mazda wants a rediculous amount for them. So i figured i would home depot it :D


Also, if you have made your own check valves what did you make it with? A write up on this would be awesome!!! If no one has any info of value im going to head to HD and gather some parts. Ill make a write up with pics ( if it has not already been done).

Had the same problem, I actually just rigged the broken one and put off buying the metal check valves. It doesn't matter anymore since I am going single, but it is good info and not that pricey compared to the OEM check valves.

I just had an idea. In the aquarium hobby, you can use one way check valves for your air pump. They look very similar to the ones used on the FD. They are cylindrical and have a nipple on either side for the tubing. I would have to test them, but I'm certain they would work the same. It would be a direct replacement for $3 or $4 each. I don't know how the would hold up in the heat, but I don't think they would be any different than other plastics under the hood. I'll search the web for picturesand info.

The ones I showed work out to about $10 a piece, they would be nearly indestructible. why do you need an even cheaper alternative? It is like a $50 upgrade and a lot of piece of mind VS. you put cheap aquarium or some other plastic check valve($20) in there and everytime you have a boost problem you will wonder, was it these cheapass check valves I put in? is it worth $30, not IMO, but to each his/her own.
