Hey guys. I need to replace all my check valves. Does it really matter which ones I use? I mean, I'm going to buy them from Mazda, but as far as I can tell there are different sizes. Ray says he sells them by the colors (green/black, green/white, white). My question is, since I know some of mine were replaced before (with the same ones I don't know), could someone please be kind enough to tell me which ones I need from Ray (or if it matters)? For example, right now I have:
1 White
2 Green/Black
2 Green/White
Is this correct for a stock FD?

Don't buy the factory ones. They will fail over time and get roasted by the heat. They will also leave your a$$ sore after you shell out Mazda's ridiculous asking price.

Use the McMaster-Carr piece:



Those check valves will hold 1000 psi and they have viton seats (rated to 400 deg F).

They are $9.00/each at mcmaster.com. PN: 7775K61

You can choose what size nipple you want on the end. I went with 3/16's. They come in packs of 10. PN: 5346K39

I heard that there are differences between the green/black, green/white, white check valves. If I replaced them all with these metal ones, wouldn't that be a problem? I mean I assume the different color valves have a different flow, but wouldn't that Part Number only allow one rate of flow? No clue if I'm making sense...

 

I'm pretty sure the green/black ones contain a small oil filter. I've got one downstairs - I'll cut it open and see.

 

So would replacing them all with the aforementioned Part Number Sonny posted be a bad thing? Or does that site have different check valves that correspond to the white, white/green and black/green check valves on the stock FD?

I am not sure if the stock check valves have filters or not. I am not the first to use the McMaster valves. I got the idea from damian who did this mod awhile ago. He hasn't had any problems as far as I know.

I too have been using the McMaster check valves for a while now. Absolutely no problems with them. They work great.

 

sorry old thread, but is there any non oem plastic check valves that we can use. besides going with the metal ones. almost done with the nest just need the check valves, dont really want to dish out the money for oem ones
