car stalled on the road, what now?
i was cruising for dinner tonight, and decided to boost after the turn to put some distance from the oncoming traffic.
well, once i hit the boost, the car was not responding to my foot on the gas, the rpms hit 1, and the car just stalled. i tried for 15 minutes after that happened to start the car. it would crank good, but it wouldnt turn over. what could be the problem? the tow truck guy said it could be a fuel problem? what could it be? |
MAP sensor?
|
oh boy
it sounds like the engine gave out. Check that map sensor first. If thats connected take out the fuel pump relay and 1 trailing spark plug at a time and crank. If you dont hear 3 even pulses or air sounds from each of the 2 housings this is not good. |
assume nothing. check the compression, fuel press, that you are getting spark.
|
eeek, your killing me surge
where and how do i check my map sensor? |
also, my hold light was flashing when this happened, so im guessing its the auto ecu telling me there is a code.
how do i check this code? |
dont wanna scare you its what came to mind
http://plaza.ufl.edu/yanni25/filterdirection.jpg the sensor is right behind the back of the elbow. Youll see a vacuum line coming from under it. Make sure it is connected on the sensor and then to the back of the throttle body/uim area as well. have you ever changed your plugs before? thats the next free test you can do if the map sensor is fine. |
ill check on that now surge, thanks
could this be an auto tranny problem? i am having symptoms of my auto tranny going out, and maybe thats what it is |
maybe someone with an auto can chime in because I dont know hardly anything about it. I can tell you that even a slipping tq converter would not cause symptoms like that. Now if the auto has its own ecu and it has a code maybe its made to be cutoff if theres a certain code but it sounds unlikely. How did the map sensor turn out? Although I dont think that is your problem.
|
the line to the map sensor was connected. but i cant tell if it was connected to the throttle body cause its deep in there and i didnt wanna take anything apart. but im guessing that it is connected, it feels snug.

eh, do a compression check. If that turns out good, you couldve ran into a spark issue or fuel filter needs changed.. Have you tried to start since it happened?
|
ya i just tried. i checked all my relays and the fuse box next to the clutch.
still no go. i dont have anything to check compression =x, but im sure that thats not a problem. |
compression,fuel,spark you need all 3
|
just an update
it was the fuel line =p |
what about the fuel line? your fuel line came off and your motor is fine?
|
how can you have 735 post and not know where the map sensor is??? i mean it even says map sensor on it :)
|
jesus, a fuel line popped off? No fire, you still have all six apex seals??
lucky bastard! Im sure I would be ordering a rebuild kit if that happend to me. |
