BOP's (UIM)?

I was just wondering what bop's I needed to make to block the AWS off. Here is my idea but I want to make sure before I go and make the plates. The top pic just shows what is there and the bottom one shows the 2 things I "think" I need to block off. Am I right and can I take the other thing off to the left (it just has 1 electrical connection)?
Thanks

^bump^

anyone???

i can verify when i get the chance to look at my r1.....

if my memory serves me correctly....the aws on the pic is the one directly underneath the UIM (left of your pic)...
youll be required to create a bop for this and the passage youve already removed with the hard piping....
theres a possibilty of the check engine light ... having left the solenoid disconnected....

The black/silver piece (idle air control valve) on the right side of your picture needs to stay. 2nd piece to delete is the one on the bottom of the UIM, left side. It looks like you're planning to eliminate the secondary throttle plates, this will make a difference?

You might need a resistor in the solenoid plug. Search around on here or look at Rob Robinette's how-to's. If you can't find it, post back and I'll dig up the info.

I think it is called Idel speed control (ISC) ?
you NEED that for sure...

BTW
I think if you delete the (AWS) you need a 330ohm 1/2 watt resistor.
hope this helps.

Does the AWS do more harm than good to a FD? Just curious?

Here ya go.

Ok, thanks everyone. All I want to delete is anything that is not necessary. This means that I need to take off the AWS and the double butterflies while leaving the ISC. So what all do I need to do to block them off besides make the plates and plug hoses? resistors? where do they go?

Thanks again.

OneBadRx7 Aug 21, 2002 02:47 AM

I am in the process of blocking my double throttle and AWS system also and I was wondering where the 330ohm resistor goes on the AWS solenoid plug so the check engine light doesnt come on, thanks in advanced,

Steve

You don't want to mess with the throttle body at all, but rather the double butterfly on the UIM. I am still wondering the same thing about the resistors though. Can anyone help us out?

Your engine management system?

PFC..just unplug it.

montego7 Aug 21, 2002 09:34 AM

you don't need resistors, just block off plates

If he's running stock ECU, then it'll throw engine codes.

OneBadRx7 Aug 21, 2002 11:28 AM

I'm not running the stock ECU so does that mean my check engine light wont come on when I unplug the solenoid?? I am running the REamemiya ECU, thanks,

Steve

Thanks a ton Van! :D

I removed EGR, DT, AWS, and ACV, along with my turbo simplification and I don't have a check engine light. I didn't use any resistors, but I placed the unused solenoids back on their plugs.

ttpowerd Aug 21, 2002 02:34 PM

how do you all block off the little hoses?

JONSKI Aug 21, 2002 07:17 PM

Are you talking about the unused nipples? I just cut a small section of hose and put a machine screw in it to plug unused nipples. I didn't bother plugging the unused solenoids.

Either buy little nipple covers(sounds kinky I know, but they do work) or do what hairman said and put a 10mm bolt into one end of a piece of silicone hose and the other to the nipple. OR you can run them to each other. That's what I did with some of mine!:D

Hmm... Interesting. Do you have the stock ECU?

It may throw codes, but I was referring to the PFC. With the PFC, it doesn't care...no engine codes at all. About half my engine wiring harness is gone since I didn't plug it up. Just the basic...

Yes.

and my airpump is unplugged.

Thanks for the "kinky" advice there Van. Now I see what you do for kicks :)
