boost sensor testing?

boost sensor testing?
Does any one know how to test a boost sensor to find out if its faulty or not?

1. Hook up Mityvac or similar tool.
2. Read voltage from sensor with a multi-meter. Compare readings to the specs in the FSM.

I don't have a Mityvac or similar tool but I do have a multi-meter .
I wonder if this is something I can take to any mechanic to have checked?
