Boost Gauge: firewall access . . .
Guys,
I have just brought a boost gauge and I cant for the life of me find where I can get the vaccum hose through the firewall. Any ideas bear in mind that I have a right hand drive. Also the gauge is kpa, and it runs at -0.5 is this normal? maz |
Don't know how things look on a right hand drive car but I drilled a hole just to the right of the steering column on my left hand drive car and ran the line through there.
I believe that -5 kpa translates to about 7 psi (?) A little low for vacuum at neutral. |
You must remove the throttle body extension (Black pipe on your right as you look at the engine). Turn your drill upside down with butt of the grip pointing at the cieling. Drill a hole ONE INCH above where the steering column enters the firewall. Voila!!

Sorry about that previous post, I missed the part about you having a right hand drive.

thanks for that. i didnt want to drill. but i did anyhow.
one inch accross and one inch down from the throttle and bonnet release cable. now . . . where to i wire the dude up for illumination?? maz |
Tap in to the ashtray light under the center console. It doesn't matter which wire you connect to which. This allows the gauge light to dim with the stock gauges.

thanks, that sounds reletivley easy. one of my other friends suggested the dimmer it self?
this might not be such a bad idea as my dimmer is not working. thanks again. |
