in a recent post, I was told i needed to get a boost controller with the mods I have, which are:

Apexi Power intake
HKS downpipe
Greddy cat back
Hi-Flow Cat
boost gauge
air/fuel gauge

Will a manual boost controller do the trick? What is the opinion of the experts?

 

An MBC will always do the trick. Decide wether you want/need the fancy features of an electronic BC or not. Things like gear-dependent boost levels, staged settings, built-in boost gauges, etc might not be as useful IRL as they look in the product description.
