Unhappy Big Problems????

Last night i was driving my 7 and i heard a little pop, i started puffing out black smoke and when i came to a stop the engine was almost stalling the rpms drop then rocket up and then drop again. i have an automatic trans and the wierd thing was that right before the pop i had come out of a turn doin about 60 kmph and hit the gas when i did it dropped gears and spun the tires out i was only at about half throttle it should not have been that drastic. when i started the car thismorning she runs realy rough it sounds sick i am scared to drive her and cause more damage. this morning it was pooring out black smoke again any ideas? i know you guys all have knowlege can someone send some my way :smiley_12 i am going nuts i love my car please help i dont want to loose her. i checked to see if anything came loose but all obvious conections are still solid intercooler and intakes are hooked up turbos spool up and dont sound rough like a bad bearing, the other thing is when the car in in neutral the engine almost dies, but when you gas it over 1500 rpm it seams to smooth back out anything you guys can think of would be a great help

Time to get a compression check....if you just blew the MAP hose off or something similar, you would not be able to rev it up and boost. Sorry....

Thanks for the sympathy. i figured it would be somthign serious Kenn_chan is out here wiht me and he is going to take a look. i had a comp check about two months ago and everything looked good, the engine has 60,000 km on it but the car and tranny have 102,000km. it really sucks because i have been budgeting all the work i have been doing having 5 kids requires that , i just got all the stuff i wanted done and it wiped out the car fund. next was a manual conversion but it looks like that wont be happining.

i think i found it last night. We started working last night and found the boost sencer was blown off. i tlooks like when i had everything off i forgot to put the clamp back on it could be a bad seal but when we pulled the plugs to check for compression it seemed ok i had three strong pulses on both rotors but the springs could be damaged due to the heat from running superlean, i just need to hook everything back up dry out the engine because it was flooded and start her up if everythign is back to normal then i am back on track to where i want to go if not i will need parts and back to being crazy

If the boost sensor hose was popped off, the car will run so crappy that you really can't do any damage to the motor. I would highly recommend getting silicone vacuum line to replace the stock line, throw a new set of plugs in, and you should be back in business.

A couple of things:

*a blown off MAP sensor line does not act how you described your symptoms. You would not be able to boost at all or rev the car up hard with the MAP sensor disconnected.

*you can't afford to replace all four plugs at the same time? They're like $8/each. No offense, but perhaps you should consider a different vehicle!

Dude i dont know where you are buying your plugs but if you can get them for 8 bucks send some love this way Yellow hat had the cheapest set and they were 9,534Y thats about 90 bucks each. oh and no offence, but there is nothing else i would want to drive i am not scared of working for a goal and saving. parts can be found or made some of us cant just go to a shop but we can do more with what we have than others can imagine.

What the hell kind of plugs are you buying? NGKs are less than $10/each....even some fancy iridium racing plugs should only be in the $30/each neighborhood!

those are split fire iridum i think the reason they are so much is because they are imported but everything out here is alot more expensive than in the states. even mazda wants 25 dollars each for the old stock ones but i wwant to put in the same thing the guy who owned the car had in there when i priced them the cheapest i could find was over 9000 yen it sucked

I guess you've checked Autobacs etc. out too? Also, have you considered an alternative plug with same characteristics but lower price, for example Denso Iridium-plugs(part number IRE01-27)? The brand usually can cost extra but is no different from a cheaper plug.
