best rear spoiler?

I currently have the Warrior Supra style wing. I think it's really out dated now. I was thinking of even going to the factory wing....
Am I nuts or just getting older?

Does anyone have any pics of their rear spoilers? Could you post them here.

And how would I cover the old holes in the rear lid?

thanks for all replies jc.

lone wolf 01-01-02 05:54 AM

I like the Mazdaspeed spoiler. The new '99 or the old Mazdaspeed one. If you get the old one, you don't need to do much to cover the holes since it covers alot of the rear lid. Just plug them up with some rubber or something and your spoiler will cover over it. I also got the OEM spoiler for sale. It's Montego Blue.

Cincy7 01-01-02 10:25 AM

I like the Racing Beat spoiler that just about 15% bigger than stock.

Foz'sRX-7 01-01-02 10:39 AM

I have the Racing Beat Type 1 spoiler.....it's just like the stock 3rd gen rear spoiler only larger......More aggressive without losing the streamline of the body.

branca 01-01-02 02:10 PM

RB type I

Here's a pic of the RB type I
http://www.racingbeat.com/photos/67101.jpg

and what it looks like on my car:

not sure how functional it is, but it must be better than stock, and looks better IMO

Powered_By_Rx7 01-01-02 02:13 PM

i like the veilside gt carbon fiber wing

JoeD 01-01-02 03:18 PM

for a stock bodied FD, the RB Type I wing looks really nice. suble, yet aggressive since its sits a few inches higher that the stock one. for FD's with a body kit, the Velside GT Carbon Fiber wing looks much nicer. (i dont think an RB Type I wing will look too good on an FD with a full C-West kit for example).

Flobb 01-01-02 03:29 PM

My thoughts resemble those of JoeD's. It all depends on what else the car has on it. It's not a simple matter of which one is best, rather, which one will match up to what you have already.

m0t03 01-01-02 03:35 PM

I'm thinking about buying a spoiler an i think I'm gonna go with the racing beat type 2

what do u all think?

I want the FEED adjustable CF wing.

QuIcKSiLvEr 01-01-02 03:40 PM

I like the racing beat Type 2 wing.. or the mazdaspeed one that looks exactly the same.. i have the mazdaspeed wing, and think it looks really aggresive.. more so than the 99spec wing.. though it's similar..

I love the wing TTT has. That is my favorite. Now back to reality, I like the RB type 1 along with everyone else if the exterior is mostly stock. It might look good with a full body kit.

Touring FD3S 01-01-02 04:00 PM

I have the RB Type II on a stock body and like it better than the stock wing. I do, however, plan on upgrading the rest of the body with a kit in the future, which is why I went with this wing, but it does look nice on a stock body.
I just think the 99, Mazdaspeed and the RB II look very nice with the curves of the body. One of the few cars which that style wing actually looks nice.

Brent Dalton 01-02-02 12:03 AM

My favorite is the Chiyo self adjusting Wing. It self adjusts the downforce as your speed increases and decreases. Kruf on the forum had one on his old FD. Cost is around $800 from Japan.

jackc 01-02-02 12:05 AM

What's this Chiyo Spoiler? Who makes it? Where can you see it?
jc.

you forgot to mention that its $1900! honestly, the FEED kinda looks like the RB Type I except with the middle part carbon fiber. other than that, they are about the same width and height. paint the FEED wing all one color and adjust the carbon fiber to sit flush with the rest of the wing, and an average person will not be able to tell the difference between it and the RB Type I.

the funny thing is-i have a black FD-so it would all be the same color anyhow.

I dunno-something about the FEED wing flows better with the lines of the car than the RB wing.

And 1900 bucks? It is a lot. But I don't plan on getting any bodywork until I'm well into my performance mods first. By then, I should be bored enough to fly out to japan and pick one up.

badass7 01-02-02 03:02 AM

I think the Feed wing is one of the best looking.

RX7 RAGE 01-02-02 05:10 AM

I like the 99 and up rear spoiler. :)

bajaman 01-02-02 06:26 AM

I STILL like NO spoiler best.......just my opinion....
Evidently.
:D

ToddNappi 01-02-02 07:02 AM

I will agree that the Racing Beat Type I spoiler is the best. Not too showy, but it complements the lines great and looks good from any angle. GT spoilers along with Supra style spoilers look terrible in my opinion - leave these to the ricer boys who just care about "look" mods.

Sleeper 01-02-02 07:25 AM

I think I like this spoiler best

Ill prolly get alot o shit for that.:D
At least it is somewhat adjustable. not like some that look like it but have that stupid brakelight.

slotter67 01-02-02 08:11 AM

My spoiler

This is my spoiler which I like better than most (I dont even know which one it is!)

rx7eaven 01-02-02 08:15 AM

I like the stock look a lot however I like the gt style wings :)

RedFD 01-02-02 08:36 AM

Slotter I like your wing.... I think its actually the stock WRX wing. Looks good on our car. I want to eventually get the Mazdaspeed GTC kit so Im going to go with their GT spoiler. The price isnt that bad and it goes perfectly with the kit. If I dont get any sort of body kits I think i will end up getting the WRX wing.

RyanREX 01-02-02 12:50 PM

I

RyanREX 01-02-02 12:51 PM

VELISIDE! That is the only GT wing I like.

you dont even know what kind of wing you have on your car?

thats the 96+ J-Spec wing, not a WRX wing.

just care about "look" mods?? do you know that the best performing wings are GT wings?? and do you know that C-West and FEED all use GT wings on their race cars?? now can you tell me how the RB Type I performs?? it doesnt. i dont think it adds anything over stock, other than some drag. i would consider it more of a "look" mod than any GT wing.

maxpesce 01-02-02 01:55 PM

I agree w/ Bajaman - No spoiler/wing is best on an FD

That is NOT a WRX wing. It came on the 96-98 FDs in Japan.

Mindphrame 01-02-02 02:04 PM

Im going to have to go with the 99 j-spec wing. Or something like that. This is all good and such but how about some good links to where we can find good spoilers and be able to compair and such. :)

I do realize that GT wings are the best performing wings (lighweight, adjustable downforce) BUT they totally destroy the looks of the car in my opinion. I see more ricer Neons, Civics, Accords etc with this wing which serves NO PURPOSE on their car which might accelerate 10 mph every minute past 80 mph - thus technically it could be considered a "look" mod. I will admit on RX-7s it serves more of a purpose but I cringe everytime I see one on an FD.

Brent Dalton 01-02-02 02:11 PM

Chiyo is the brand name I believe. It can only be purchased in Japan last I heard. It is a GT style spoiler. I know it isn't just for looks. My friend, who prob. built more rotary engines then 90% of the people here. Had it on his old FD. He got it up to 187mph so I think it is as good as you can get. He paid $800 for it. If you are seriously interested in buying one, email me and I'll send you some pics of it and see if I can't find out where to get one.

i personally think GT wings look really nice on an FD with a full kit. for exacmple, the C-West kit looks amazing with a GT wing. can you honestly say that a RB Type I wings looks good in conjunction with a C-West body kit??

thats why different wings are for different levels of cars, IMO. for a stock FD, the RB Type I looks amazing, but it will not look good on a kitted car. on the other hand, a Veilside GT wing looks hella nice on a kitted FD, but kinda looks like ass on a stock FD.

try www.rx7.com , or ask Jason...maybe he could hook you up. ;)

weaklink 01-02-02 03:32 PM

do all of the spoilers use the stock mounts? if not which ones do?

Pumped 01-02-02 03:49 PM

i still like the stock one best.
