Best line routing into cabin for AFR and boost gauge?
 

Hi guys,

I feel like I've done adequate research on the past threads about this topic but everything I dig up seems several years old and the pictures are long gone.

So I'm asking the question to those of you running aftermarket wideband AFR gauges and boost gauges. Where have you guys run you wires for the AFR gauge and the vacuum line for the boost gauge into the cabin? I have a 94 LHD touring model and will be running one plx multigauge on the A pillar.

it seems there are couple points, one beinga grommet in the passenger foot well, another grommet under the driver side wheel well which can be seen underneath the liner by removing a few screws and exposing it. Each of these options having to cut through the grommet which leads into the cabin. Both of these spaces I find extremely tight!

Just wondering if you guys have any guidance and pictures of your routing for these gauges which may help figure out the best and cleanest way possible to get the lines into the cabin.

I think I found the passenger one easier to setup. If you are running the 3 -top speaker - mounted gauges etc.. take out your glove box and have fun.

Definitely tight, but if you can fit both harnesses through the same hole (or harness and hose), then that's all that matters. I went through the right hand wheel well (since mine is RHD). Ended up just popping the little grommet out completely. I originally tried going in through the firewall with the main wiring harness, but man I just couldn't get it to where I could grab it behind the glove box.

Thanks for the input! Mine is a LHD so I'm not sure if the firewall openings are in the same location. I'm guessing your RH wheel well would be where my passenger side is?

Been a while but IIRC I used the large grommet at the steering column for both the boost gauge tube and a temp gauge wire. I don’t think I had to puncture or cut anything though. Just ran it up beside the column.

Thanks for the input. Interesting...but the grommets are tight and I'm not sure if the squeeze from the grommets would pinch the vacuum line and cause inaccurate readings.

There is a grommet behind the fender liner. Comes out behind the dead pedal. Poke a hole in that. No need to drill any holes in the body anywhere. You can get the hose there by going behind the brake booster and follow the harness into the fender well. There is a similar grommet on the other side as well.

Thanks for the suggestion. That's where I was thinking of passing through as well. The only thing is for the life of me I can find where the grommet enters the cabin through that hole. I thought it came out behind the fuse box somewhere but it's so tight there I couldn't find it. I'll check behind the dead pedal. Thanks!

^ That's how I routed mine. Use a wire hanger with a piece of blue tape on the end to locate in the cabin area
