Battery Relocation

1 Attachment(s)
Battery was relocated to the rear bin when I bought it. There has to be a better way to do this. Any kits? Enclosures? Ideas? Any input appreciated. Thanks.

That was an eccelent write up & I used it as my guide when I relocated my battery. I haven't had any problems with it either.

If you don't want it in the bins you can try putting it in the trunk. This is what i'm about to do to my car.

what "storage bins" is this referring to, to relocate the battery to?
is this only found on the US market FD's? the only "bins" i have in mine are 2 panels in the trunk - 1 on either side above the wheel wells

There are bins right inbetween the front seats & the trunk area. I don't know if they are only in US or not.......I thought they all had them unless they switched them out for the rear seat mod.

The bins look like this (I had them out while working on the reloaction):

The previous owner mutilated the car and completey removed the entire inside portion of my storage bin already.

ahh so US FD's dont have rear seats? JDM FD's all have rear seats except for the Spirit-R which is available in a 2 seater. this is an old pic but you can see a bit of the rear seats in my bat.

^^Yes, none of the models we revieved in the US came with the rear seat... All two seaters. I guess your best option is to relocate to the hatch area. I love the interior of your car by the way. I am a bit partial to the red interior myself... :) Although I am glad we do not have rear seats, I cannot imagine a person actually crawling back there..

To the OP, the link posted above is the best writeup I have ever seen on here or any other site. Follow it and you will have a VERY clean relocation. Just take your time and do not get in a hurry. Is your storage bin totally gone or the previous owner just hacked up the rear bin for his/her relocation project? If they just hacked it up you could utilize an optima battery and build/buy a larger battery tie down box. If you really want to put effort into it then you could rebuild the interior of the bin with fiberglass to what ever size is most appropriate for your needs (dependant upon the battery you choose). From the pic you posted it looks like a pretty shitty and careless install and I would rip ALL of that out and buy new, quality products to use. Although it is a seeming trite modification, if done carelessly you can most definantly burn the car to the ground in a matter of seconds. Don't take the install lightly like the previous owner may have done. Good luck!!

haha - well i've actually had 6 in my car and cruised around few clubs then across the city to a party lol. 2 guys in the back (6ft1) 1 girl on top of them (5'10") - and 2 girls in the front (5'7")...made for an interesting ride :D

thanks, i want to get new covers for the front ones though, the rest is mint but the drivers seat is just starting to get a little worn - but damn they're US$400 for the set!!
