Battery dies in less than 2 weeks
I inherited my dad's 93 R1. Minor mods. Larger intercooler, fan behind intercooler, AEM computer, tripoint air box. Some suspension work.
My dad said the battery just naturally drains if I don't drive it fir a couple weeks. It has a defunct aftermarket security system. Do FD batteries drain this quickly? |
It's not the battery, its your car. Either your alarm or something else is causing a drain. Cars should be able to sit for even a few months and still start.

It's not "naturally" doing that. Between that aftermarket alarm and the aftermarket fans, there's probably some 'iffy wiring causing parasitic drain....

Aftermarket security systems are notorious for high parasitic drain. Since you say it's defunct, I'd disconnect the power leads to it.

Check to see if your glove compartment light is turning off when the lid is shut. Notorious for having the switch not fully contacting door when closed!

When I first got my car, the ignition key light wouldn't shut off and that would kill the battery. Also check in your rear hatch, there's a setting on the switch that keeps that light on all the time.

My car does the same thing, I added a breaker when i relocate the battery and just cut the power when I'm not driving it. I'll have to hunt down the source when I have more time next year.
|
it was incentive to drive the car more often..

How old is the current battery in there?
