:( :( Well I went out today for a little blast, the 7 was sitting for over a week now.I made sure she was warm before opening it up.So after the ride I was headed home,4 blocks away, when it started to idel really bad the vac was jumping around like crazy, and black smoke was coming out. Then it just died. I started it back up but held the gas down to 2500 rpm's so it wont stall. And made it back to my house.
I'm pretty sure it is an apex seal.I have the boost set at 10psi, x.s. boost controler and the pfc is set at 10.I didnt spike out. Since it is so cold. Now i'm thinking if I should just seel her very cheap, I dont want to drop 5,000 for an engine.
So what does everone think? Is the motor gone?I'm about to jump in front of a bus!!!!!

Is the PFC tuned?

jdhuegel1 01-31-04 03:38 PM

MAP sensor. Black box, driver-side firewall. Make sure it's connected. :)

R-magic 01-31-04 03:38 PM

Did u check the map sensor?

kyle@insight 01-31-04 03:38 PM

Sounds like it could have let go. How many miles were on this one?

A new motor is not neccasarily $5k. You could get a stock reman for 2.5k and just do the swap yourself. It's really not that hard.

radiantRX-7 01-31-04 03:45 PM

95,000 miles on the car the pfc was tuned to the mods that I had.I didnt check the map sensor, but I think it's o.k. I'll chek though.

radiantRX-7 01-31-04 03:47 PM

If I do the motor I would like to 3mm apex seals cermic.

Who tuned the ECU?

I would check over the car (vacuum lines, gaskets, etc) until you can get it to a shop for a compression test. With a compression test, you'll know for sure.

There is A GOD! I went down a checked the map sensor and it was disconected!I really didnt think that will be it but it was, I connect it and started it up and it was fine.Thanksfor the input everone, and the pfc was tuned by SR..and told them my mods and the sent me one in the mail.

Okay I would just like to take a moment to point out this VERY LUCKY and RARE situation...

We know how often it isn't this simple..

Go have a drink radiant, you should feel relieved. :)

p.s. Have the PFC dyno-tuned with a wide-band O2 sensor. It's the only way to be 100% accurate.

radiantRX-7 01-31-04 04:46 PM

A drink is an understatment

rynberg 01-31-04 05:09 PM

Haha, there's a reason everyone always brings up the MAP sensor hose first....

Glad it worked out for you. :)

mazdaspeed00 01-31-04 05:31 PM

i sugest you start saving for a new engine anyway :) so when the times come you wont have to sell you car.
