Auto Transmission Problem

Car has been running great the past few months, Pettit did a street ported motor and fixed my differential problem. On my way to class today, i started the car and heard this slight grind noise and it went away, made it about 50 yards and the car just began to coast. When in Drive or Reverse the car doesnt move what so ever. I have no problem putting it into gear and the engine is running fine. The hold button is not flashing either, nor is their a check engine light. When i turn the car on it makes the small grinding noise under the car for about 15 seconds and goes away.

I called pettit and he said that the ball joint could be stuck but didnt know for sure. I checked the transmission fluid and that was full and clean. So i called aamco and they towed it for free and monday they are supposed to tell me whats the problem. Just curious to what you guys think the problem could be and i pray to god i dont need a rebuild as i cant afford it right now with some other engine mods im planning.

AND no i cant afford a 5 speed swap either.

thanks
Bryan

Used tranny seems like an option. Post a WTB in the parts forum. Automatics used run around $250.00 and can be shipped for around $80.00 or so.

i have this manual transmission for FD in my garage laying around for last 6 months and i dont want to swap it to my auto transmission. cause i believe that auto tranny is the only thing that has kept my motor protected after 112000kms. lol

And i got that tranny for free, removed it from a 2002 FD's motor.

There is something wrong with your torque converter is my guess. And...it could be as simple as they 4 bolts that secure it to the flex-plate have sheared off or come out. Take off the little access panel and have someone turn the engine over BY HAND and see if you can see the bolts still. I guess since you have it at a shop they can and will soon tell you what is wrong.

well, this might be a bit of a stretch, but ill have everything you need for a manual conversion including the tranny if your interested, still a used auto would probably be cheaper.
