Auto trans cooler to an engine oil cooler
Listen up - anyone converting a Auto to Manual may want to do this. I made these for all three of my conversions, so I am running the trans cooler as the first engine oil cooler...ala R1. My engine oil temperatures are waaaay cool.
Like I said earlier, there is no known aftermarket fitting to use in the stock trans cooler to adapt to engine oil hose NOR -10an fittings. No problem, make your own.
Process is rather simple....clean up the stock trans cooler fittings, drill out the two barbs, buy two engine oil female fittings and weld the female fittings to the trans fitting threads. WWaaallaaa !!! you are in business.
I made these for a Forum member, so ask him to make you some.

haha.
I suppose there are a lot of us doing the swap right now huh Tom? I think I've figured out my own way to route and connect hoses to the oil cooler. I hope zip ties will hold.
I'll be sure to look for a set if my way doesn't work out. I just pulled out the auto tranny tonight. Its been fun, but its been a pain so far by myself.

Thanks for the pictures. I'll PM Islanders_rx7 for more info
If I'm not mistaken, the stock drivers side oil cooler already has a thermostat in it to regulate the temps unlike aftermarket oil coolers that need an external thermostat.

I dont have an xtra auto trans cooler fitting to check. I dont want to to remove the fitting itself anymore. Refer to this thread https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ghlight=cooler

http://www.greenlinehose.com/_pdf/pu...8/Adapters.pdf pg. 96 Ive got 2 of them on my car, off the shelf cant remember the price but $3 per would be the right ballpark. I believe its these that i used to to on my stock oil cooler when i kept it and added an aftermarket 2nd cooler.
