Anyone use a roof rack or luggage rack on the FD?
Yes, Flame me.
Anyone running either of these? I've started doing events as a vendor any need to lug all my crap there and bring the FD. Yes, i could buy a trailer and strap it to my dying MPV but i rather drive the 7.
i was thinking of doing a roof rack but i only installed one that is used with an already existing rack on a jeep... are there ones that clamp on in the door openings?
The other idea was modifying a luggage rack... I'm eventually going to get a spoiler so i was going to make brackets for the trunk that i can take the spoiler off easily since i wont always drive with it on. Therefore, id create some sort of mounting system to attach the luggage rack on when the spoilers off..
right now i can fit in the FD....
my 10x10 tent
small grill
bag of charcoal
tool bag
3 boxes of shirts
so technically i can fit everything in the FD but its a tight fit and that means im riding solo...
Im sure some of you track/drifters have some pretty good ideas on how to transport your spare tires/tools without an extra car following or trailer...
pics or any ideas would be great!

Uhaul sells a trailer hitch for the FD, so you could tow a small trailer with all your stuff. IIRC, there is a roof rack called te "hunch back", I think made by delta. This was years ago so Im not sure if its still in production.

Take your finger, and gently press on the roof skin. Now tell me if you still want to put a luggage rack on it. Seriously its not a good idea. The skin is too thin and you will warp it. I've known people to get a small trailer to pull their race wheels and extra equipment to the track.
Best option without towing your car to and from the events:

Kevin Doe nailed it though with his fabrication. When I think of a roof rack I think of the VW hellaflush guys that strap an old suitcase and fixed gear bike to the top of their cars.

Hey, you said to flame you. LOL WUT?
Its only permissable to have a roof rack on the roof of a sports car if you have (lets see if I can remember how this crap goes) hellaflush, poke, tuck, stretch, stance and other such stupid car related adjectives. People who use these adjectives are in no was concerned about ther performance of their cars. Thusly the preference to ruin the aerodynamics of a very aerodynamic car with a roof rack is permissable as long as you use said adjectives to describe your car.

And most of the time they were talking about a naturally aspirated Daihatsu Charade 3cyl compact car or a late-80's Subaru Liberty.
Every time I saw them in person, they disregarded my FD because "It don't got hellaflush like my Daihatsu Charade man!! You should cut yo springs down!"
I blocked the #$%^ out of them. No more spammy facebook newsfeed. Problem solved
