Anyway, i don't think they look that bad.

I sat in an RX-8 before, and the seats felt wide as **** to me... the bolsters were too far apart, like on a Scoobie WRX that I sat in. Somehow, they made the STi have the nice, tight buckets, and the WRX have "american grande" size ones..

So, yeah, I guess I'm what you call "the average Japanese male" (except that I'm not Japanese) and when I see something like thisin an add or in magazines:

"The seats were clearly made for a fit japanese guy, and not an one of us bulky "Americans"
About ones like Sparco EVO one, Buddy Club full buckets, etc. I laugh it off, because I'm 5' 11" and have "that" build, where I'm athletic, but not "big" like a football player for example.

short version: I have a 32" waist.

EDIT: Rest In Peace GUITARJUNKIE28... I did not know you, but I wish all the best to you up there, bro! Peace.

If I was Dave I would love knowing my knowledge that I shared is remembered. I never knew him but taking on projects like this is respectable.

Anyway I hope a few more of us try this interesting mod. There is a set of nice Rx-8 seats on eBay right now and the bidding is at $91. Ends in 1.5 days, item number 320155429856. I'd take a crack at it but I have a hood and water injection to work on already.

Ha sounds like the seats would fit me a whole lot better than my OEM leathers.

Sorry to bring up an old thread and I am sorry to Hear about Dave's passing too, very sad but like someone said, he will be very happy that his information has helped others and he will be remembered

Back on topic, I have acquired a genuine Mazdaspeed seat out of an RX8 that looks brand new (cant find an image or any details on it anywhere!!), it blue and has Mazdaspeed stitched into it. I will get pics up tomorrow once I have the seat

I am just wanting to know if anyone has managed to do this conversion yet using the stock FD seat rails I mean will they bolt up the rx8 seat? I have also gone and purchased a Bride FD seat rail in case I can fit the seat in using that rail without having to butcher my FD one as I will prob end up keeping the Mspeed seat when I sell the car.

From what I can gather the seat rail widths of both FD and RX8 are the same so in theory shouldnt the seat mounting points of the rails be around the same??

I have been looking all over the internet for pics, prices and anything else but this is the only picture I could find and noting about the actual seat.

I was wondering if anyone has any idea if the new RECARO seats in the 2009 R3 RX8 might fit in the FD. This might be a nice option if everything can be made to fit the FD! I wonder what the cost will be.

http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/disp...ehicleCode=RX8

"Designed exclusively for the R3, Recaro® front sport seats add a high-performance feel to the interior while providing better lateral support for shoulder, torso and hips."

Putting this seat into an FD has not been fun, but managed to get it in there with Custom made brackets. Does feel nice in the FD though. Way better then the factory seats in my opinion.
