Looks nice.

Aren't RX-8 seats really heavy? And no room for a harness...

naw, they're lighter than my fd seats. but my fd's are leather. haven't (and don't intend to) put them on a scale and weigh them.

they're just really comfortable, great height for me, and they have the triangle and the butt pump

harness? it may have 500 hp, but it's a commuter car

And all this time I thought they would have been too big. Ya I say you do a writeup, as I'm sure some people might be interested.

I'd like to read what it was like to install them. They look more comfortable than the FD seats. Also, if you don't mind, I'd like to hear the cost and where you got them.

i don't care how much they weigh. they're lighter than the fd seats.

cost and where... cheap, from a wrecked rx8
i'll get more pics when i do the writeup. honestly, only the front of the seat is mounted. i still have the rar to do, but it's pretty damn solid for only having 2 bolts in it so far.

I've never sat in an RX-8, but the first thing I noticed about the seats at the dealership were the plastic rotors in them. Doesn't it seem as though those would kinda jab into you?

I stand corrected. That would be an good write-up on how to sorta modernize your FD. You have my vote.

for those that haven't sat in an RX8, the seats are great. We've done several long trips in the wife's 8 and the seats support well, and you get out feeling great. They suport rather well in autocross too. I think they would be a great option for moderinzing the FD. I'm just not going to do it to mine :o

the one complaint i would have about the 8 seats is they're kinda wide. but i guess i can get fat and still fit in the thing in the future now.

Back at least year's rotorfest in NJ I saw a blue FD showcar that had the 8 seats in them. They did look wide, and looked to be a tight fit.

They can be found for ~500-600 per pair in great shape. I was considering this for my R1, but opted to go a different route

****, if someone gave me 600 for the pair, i might just take them out and put the fd seats back in. i didn't pay anywhere near that

I have a 93 touring and the drivers seat has a split at the seam in the seat and other areas have just split. The left bolster (? sp and terminology) has a hole the size of a half-dollar in it. My wife is going to get them re-upholstered for my BD but I kind of like the look of the RX8 seats. I would like to see a write-up also. Probally be much less expensive than new leather.

Dang, how did your moms do that? Seriously, the seats are comfy. I got to test drive an '8 a few months ago and they feel very nice. I don't recall the lateral support aspect though (especially as compared to the FD). I'd love to see a writeup as my FD seats are on the list of crap to get rid of.

EDIT: What's this "butt pump"?

I like the way you think. But do the write-up. I'm old, my *** is getting wider and this sounds interesting.

i just had a bunch more work come in. it'll be a little while before i get around to it, unless i can't sleep (which does happen pretty often) and decide to do it in the middle of the night. but plan on it being a few days at least before i get-r-done.

they look no wider than 99% of aftermarket seats. rx8 seats are actually very comfy, even more comfortable than fd seats.
