I didn't really want to fork over $150 for a ****, so I picked up a alternative. It's from a STI. I picked it up brand new for $80 shipped. Weight is 1lb. (Thanks for the idea Purerx7!
This thing is rock solid. Feels great too.
I have a new Shift Boot, Ebrake Boot and Console Cover on order with the same color/stitching. So, it should look kinda neat.

Ah, that's why the shifter sits so high--- answers my question from the other thread. We have a customer car at the shop with the M-speed short shifter and his oem shifts **** sits very high also.
I love Mazdaspeed parts, and rowing through the gears with that short shifter feels great but I couldn't get used to the height of the assembly.... my B&M positions the shifter about two inches shorter.
As I mentioned in the other thread, the shift **** looks pretty sharp, I dig the stitch pattern.

I guess all short shifters aren't created equal !
Here is the address where you can pick up the shift ****: http://www.avojdm.com/product_info.p...9b7853b1f7786e.

Ahhh.... I was about to blow you up for saying I have a 2nd gen Shift ****
Yeah, it's rare.
This shift **** came on a special addition Widebody 22B STI that was only made in 1998.
It came in the stock STI packaging from the factory.

Looks like a pretty snazzy alternative to the spirit R shift ****. It may look so high because it doesn't screw in as far as the stock one?
What I did was have the stock shifter re-covered in leather, the only downside is you lose the pattern on top of the shifter. It only cost me like $50 to have re-covered, and obviously you just have to ask for red stitching instead of black.

It goes about an inch lower, I just didn't get it screwed it down all the way. My kung fu grip got tired
I'll screw it all the way down once I get the new boots installed.

Damn looks like a scion TC shifter lol
But for the price, you could have gotten the MS shift **** like others suggested. It sits lower and it has a heavy feel to it. Works perfect with a SS if you have one.

MS Shift ****? Not a single person mentioned a MS Shift ****.
My intentions were to find a high quality leather shift **** with red stitching that somewhat had the stylings of the Spirit R Shift ****. I think I found that.
Looks like a Scion TC Shift ****? If you say so.
I guess you failed to read any of my posts.
