You have PS though, right?

rynberg 04-23-07 12:58 PM

The A/C is on a different belt than the water pump.....you need an idler or a Greddy pulley kit.

To remove your air pump, pettit has a pulley kit. To remove your a/c you just need a smaller belt.

I've got a Pineapple Racing idler pulley kit that bypasses the air pump. it's brand new, complete with brackets, bolts, pulley and belt. It's in the blister pack it was shipped in. To be honest, I forgot what I paid for it, and can't locate the invoice. I'm open to offers on it. It's really great quality.

hope you dont have emissions then

Black1993rx7 04-23-07 09:52 PM

What no water pump? lol.

RX7Crazy_84 04-24-07 04:10 PM

what does idler look like? and which one is it better to go with the greddy kit?

An idler is just a pulley that is not attached to any accessory. Its there to provide tension on the belt to get better contact with the waterpump pulley. Ideally, the idler pulley would be best, Pineapple Racing sells one. However, the Greddy kit has been proven to work fine over the years with the stock main pulley.

ferragame 04-24-07 08:51 PM

Yep. My car only has the greddy kit w/ an unorthodox racing main pulley. No air pump, no ps and no ac. Well, I'm tired of having no ps so its going back on the car. One belt for the alternator/water pump and one for the ps.

As for no air pump, when I took it to my mechanic for state inspection, he asked if I had an air pump....... I said sure and pointed to the single turbo I run :D

Mahjik,

That means Pineapple just uses the OEM pulley. Doesn't that affect the underdrive issue like the aftermarket ones are calculated for?

Underdriving has to do with the pulley attached to the specific accessory itself. Whether or not you have an extra pulley in the line doesn't effect how many revolutions it takes to turn the main pulley or an accessory.

i.e. how you underdrive is basically:

1. Make the accessory pulley larger
2. Make the main pulley smaller
3. Combination of 1 & 2

The idea is the have the accessory make less turns per revolution of the main pulley. Whether there is an idler pulley on the line is independent of that as all that effects is the belt size.

Yeah, I pulled the AC and PS last year. Other then parking at car shows I dont miss the PS at all. Not to mention my cooling issues are over now that huge ac condensor is gone.

I looped the PS lines shut with the kit from Gotham . Just a quick fix untill I get a modified steering rack done the right way.
