AFC Neo or PowerFC?
 

Hello I know this is a noob question to ask but whats the difference between the AFC Neo and the PowerFC?

I understand that the AFC Neo is a piggyback unit and the PowerFC can be used as a standalone. can i gain the same performance gain with the AFC and the stock ECU as compared to the PowerFC alone?

What do you guys suggest?

Power FC > AFC.

Full engine control vs 1/4 ass control. And Yes, a standalone will always offer more control than a piggyback ever could.

Power FC is a great, low cost, easy to install standalone ECU. However, a standalone type ECU like the PFC isn't always necessary. It is nice b/c it is programmable and can be tailored to your setup - IF you have a good tuner that can set it up/tune it appropriately. Many people confuse the act of being able to use a computer with being able to properly and safely tune a map...

You can accomplish similar goals with a piggy back from Pettit, Peter Farrel, M2 or whoever else makes them. Mahjik had posted some good info on a thread some time ago if you want to search for it and get further perspective.

Piggyback =/= ROM Tune/Reflashed ECU.

Piggyback only adjusts fuel curves without paying attention to anything else that might affect the performance of the engine. A ROM Tune is much safer than a piggyback because it still uses the parameters of the stock ECU but adjusts the program for higher performance.

Afc neo only works by altering the map signal so no good for mapping beyound fuel cut and you can't fo anything about ignition. Save yourself time and hassle in the long run and get a pfc.

I disagree about the piggybacks not being as good as a standalone, for example hks f-con v pro is much better than a pfc.

The HKS F-Con V-Pro is a PIGGYBACK STYLE Standalone ECU. Meaning it's a full standalone computer with the ability to run 3 separate maps. However, it does rely on the stock ECU to control auxiliary inputs like the car's interior and such which can offer more flexibility.

HKS's Piggyback is the PFC F-Con or VPC. Their newest standalone is the V Pro 3.3

At the end of the day piggyback is piggyback ie the stock ecu is still being used for something in the car. You can get high resolution maps on piggy backs i think emu has higher resloution than a pfc just a matter of what the manufature has decided to include as a feature.

a neo only allows you to adjust fuel thats it. the power fc allows you to control everything like timing fuel fans boost extra eccesories like alky injection the power fc can and will allow you to make more power out of even a stock motor as the stock ecu has all its presets set at a safe zone as the power fc you can tune the engine and go further than the safe zone unlike the stock ecu. the neo really is not going to do squat as you can always give and take away fuel but you also have to put timing into consideration aso and your not going to get that from a neo

How is your PFC driving alky?

PFC > AFC, in case it wasn't already decided.

i was just using that a a example as a an auxilery output not sure if a power fc has one tho i will be finding out soon tho i am use to full standalones lol
