AEM Water Injection Controller - Mount Location?
I'm refreshing my injection controller to AEM and wanted to see where people were mounting their V2 or V3 AEM Controllers.
Easiest would be in the engine bay, but with the adjustable knobs exposed with readout I also kind of have second thoughts on if it should be somewhere in the cabin. Please share your clean controller locations! https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...411559116f.jpg |
Mine is in the glove box, stuck to the side with velcro tape. The wires are just long enough to go down past the ECU, along the rockers, and through the trunk plastics. My pump is right under the trunk latch, and the included tank is mounted so it sticks down into the spare wheel well. Wires are just long enough. The hose is routed down through the access panel for the gas tank, following the fuel lines under the car. It comes up along the firewall, goes through the filter, and then into the intake elbow.
I wish I had proper warp for the wires so it looks like a proper harness. Also, a big bag of Zip Ties is your friend here. |
Mine is up under the dash on the driver's side, kind of above where CPU2 is. Really once you set it up you never mess with it again.
I also put the LED status light in the speaker gauge pod I have so I can see what's up with it. Dale |
We install normally install them on the kick panel unless a customer requests another location.
|
Exactly what Dale said. Under the dash and out of the way. Once its set, you don't need to bother with it. No need to have it on display.
|
I had a friend install their controller in the glove box, and they put the light next to a gauge on the a-pillar.

Thanks all!
Pretty unanimous in cabin and not baking until crispy under the hood hehe. Btw, would someone mind advising the length of their V2 or V3 nozzle that protrudes from their npt fitting to the hose connect? My old setup was a Devil's Own (brand) that had a short nozzle connected to a 90* on my elbow. I'm not sure if I can utilize the long AEM nozzle with my existing NPT fitting as it looks like I may have clearance issues with the master cylinder. Can't seem to find the measurements for this particular part to confirm, thanks! |

this is how much it sticks out. I'm RHD so your clearance might be different |
Yes, I know what it looks like.
This is why I asked for the length measurement. |

The picture was meant as a way for you to estimate the length, but it looks like you need someone to hold your hand instead

It's quite thin but no issues so far. I'm definitely not the first person to tap into the elbow like this
|
If you have the V2 kit you can get an adapter for the AEM injector, either 45° or 90° so you can install it where you have room, the adapter will go between the injector and the nozzle so it won't affect the spray pattern.
The above picture is the V3 injector, which has the integrated nozzle, those will have to be tap straight into the elbow so you don't really have a choice but tap it where you have room. |

Yeah, the V3 nozzle is supposed to have better spray pattern to improve evaporation.

*atomization :sweatdrop

Haha thank you
