adhesive for interior carpet

What type of adhesive (glue) should I use to make the carpet stick to the tranny tunnel and sides? Also does anyone have any ideas on how to re-attach the white clips to the carpet? I don't own an industrial strength stapler.

thanks

Seems like you wouldn't want to have it stick - if you ever have to pull the carpet up for some reason, you'd probably damage the carpet. That's why the stock carpet is molded to the floorpan.

https://www.rx7club.com/interior-exterior-audio-26/diy-carpet-your-fd-462494/ LMK if you need some carpet, I just ordered 3 yards of 72" wide olefin pile cut carpet, super nice stuff, its in a titanium silver/dark gray. I am selling the whole role for like $60 plus shipping, it is enough to carpet 5 FD's. Dale you can remove the carpet from the vinyl backing and replace it, not easy and not fun but will work

I wouldn't use adhesive.

For one, there will still be a TON of the stock adhesive still around. As soon as you lay the new carpet in it will stick. This might be different if you are using an aftermarket one and it isn't cut to fit...but my replacement stock carpet is rock solid.

Second, after you put everything back in and the door sill clips, seats, etc...the carpet won't move. Again this was for my stock carpet replacement.

gmonsen might have some pointers since he was one of the first with a custom aftermarket carpet.

Good thread. Ill be doing my interior conversion finally once all my parts come in. I thought about using adhesive too but i thought about what 7racer said. Once you put everything back, the thing wont move.

Just another note. When you remove your stock carpet save the plastic rail clips that clip on the door sill rails. I just pushed the old staples into the new carpet. Used a pair of pliers to bend the staples down. Then you have the clips to hold the new carpet in.

When you remove your carpet you will see what I mean.

Damn why didn't I think of that I will have to do the staple thing.... I think I am just too tired to come up with obvious solutions. Thanks 7racer that is what I will do. Thanks everyone else I won't use any adhesive. When I pulled out the old carpet it was secured to the tranny tunnel from just above the shifter all the way to the firewall on top of the tunnel. I am going to just put it in and see how it looks thanks for all the info.
