?

Hi, guys and gals. I'm new and I'm wondering about the 3rd Gen. because I really want one.

I don't know much about it and I'm kinda scared of the car.I drive a piston engined car and I heard a lot of bad things about the Rx-7 but I still want one so please can you answere my questions.

1: What's engine flooding and how does it occur, is it costly to repair?
2: What's efini?
3: What's R1,R2,VR,CYM? I see these everywhere.
4: Can an Rx-7 beat a C4 Vette in a race?
5: I heard the 7 brakes down so very often, is that true?

Thanks a lot, I have many more questions but that's it for now.

Oh one more, what's a REMAN engine? Are those better or more powerful?

Bye

the 3rd gens dont flood as much as the earlier 2nd gens i actually never heard this to be a problem unless something is wrong with the car, dont worry about efini , r1 and r2 are models, cym and vr are colors that the cars come in, c4 beatting an rx7 what , the 7 brakes down a lot if you dont know what u are doing, but there are a bunch of reliability issues. use the search function on this forum and read the stiky if you havent yet...learn about the car before u get one it might not be what u are looking for after all

boost spikes and creps are unwanted or undesirable raises in boost pressure, over and above what is 'healthy for the car'. they are usually caused by running an open exhaust w/o and ecu upgrade or boost controller...

running rich is well, running rich. more fuel than air while the engine is under load....

Hi there sweety!
Lets see here .

1st engine flooding in 3rd gen Rx7 is rare and fairly simple to correct. So a experienced rotary shop shouldn't charge any more than 1 hour labor cost. about$75

Efini was the "luxury" Mazda line. It no longer exists

R1 is the 93 sport package
R2 is the 94-94 sport package
VR stands for "Vintage Red"
CYM Stands for "Competition Yellow Mica"

Yes a RX-7 is perfectly capable of beating any corvette in a race.

Rx-7s breakdown when modded and not serviced/tunned properly.

I recommend anyone looking into the 3rd gen Rx-7 to check out Rob Robinette's site.

https://www.rx7club.com/links.php?op=visit&lid=6

You will find almost anything you could ever want to know on there, and decide based on that if this is the car for you. There are also other very good resource pages if you click "web links" from the home page.

You will also find alot of the time doing research on these types of sites (rob's) and using the search feature is alot easier than posting and hearing "use the search button!" over and over.
Good luck on your FD quest! (in case you are wondering FD is the body code for the 3rd gen Rx-7, or just another nick-name)
