I'm doing the rx8 trans this summer. All I have to do is box in a shifter housing 3.5"back and fit a drive shaft. Rx8 6speeds are $500 and if you can afford it buy a series 2 trans $1200. The gearing in the 6speed is perfect with 4.1 gears but you can't drive like a ass. Ever meet anyone with a 10sec talon TSI they granny shift to keep the trans safe. I don't the think the 400hp would hurt the rx8 6speed unless you do a lot of racing.

Wasn't the price tag for that around $8,000?

It was... I'm trying to find information on it but I can't find it anywhere... Heck I figured one should be around somewhere to be had for cheaper by now.

From what I found Greddy never offered a trans but rather the 6 speed internals for the FD. HKS and RE-amemiya offered a trans swap though.

And if anything it would cost more rather than less due to its rarity, i.e. not many were sold because of the high price tag.

That's true... hmm... do you know of any old links that could possibly still work regarding it? I've been searching my old HDs trying to see if I can't find old links or something but can't find anything. :(
