2002 Rx7?????
I was just wondering when the last production year for the rx7 is?
I know that the U.S stopped in 95 and Japan stopped in 99! But I have a freind saying that they have a 2002 model selling in japan. I thought he might be mixing it up with the rx8 but he said no it was an rx7 2002!! Any help please? |
This year will be the last year for the RX-7, R34 Skyline, and the Supra.
|
I thought the supra was killed off in Japan already...

RX-7, Supra, GT-R, NSX's next gen suppose come out in 2004
|
I just want to know if mazda is developing the new 7 now or not??? It took mazda about 4 or 5 years to finish the FD. And from the interview I read on Rotary news it said that they had no idea what they were going to do the the RX-7 as of yet. So if they do come out with one in 2004, I dont think it will be nearly as refined as the FD is, since it will probably be a two door version for the RX-8 or something... But does anyone have any solid info?
|
I still want to see how Mazda will improve perfection :D
|
the fd ends production this spring

Not To Be An Ass But The Rx-7 Stoped Production In 1996 Over Here Even Though There Was Only 10 And They Were All Sent To Canada

i haven't heard of any '04 return of the supra and 7. nsx yes. i think ford wants to see the response on rx8 before announcing any return of the 7. i don't doubt if prototypes of the 7 are being created. it'll probably be a NA with more hp than rx8. I think reliability will be high on list of priority for the next gen 7.

Nissan is very sure about making a GT-R. But they will import it here or not is a big question mark. Toyota is still not sure making a Supercar or next Supra. Either way they will have a Sport car. But they didn't say will it be here or not either. |
whoops! already answered above.

IF they make a 4th Gen RX-7 it will be very interesting to see what they do to it, I would personally like to see a FD 1.5version, meaning not an all new car and look just a revision of the current design. I'm sure something we would all like to see.
Being Mazda I'm sure they are going to change everything we love about this car, forcing us to find new things to become attached to :) |
The next 7 will be a completly new platform with a two rotor turbocharged motor based on the renisis motor.

they need to stop toying with the 2 rotor and put the damn 20b in the car already
|
the RX-7 is suppose come out one year after the RX-8. There are already some drawing leak out to the Japanese Auto Mags. Do they have a prototype? That I don't know. Those mags didn't have anything on a prototype yet. But next gen RX-7 suppose to use more the same engine as the RX-8.
|
Oh yee of little faith.;)
|
anyone have those drawings?

It's a shame someone like BMW didn't invest in Mazda :(
I would love to see the German technology be pumped into our little jewels. |
wow i didnt know that this was the last year for the fd in japan.
why? |

From what i hear the Rx-8 is kinda getting the same reaction right now as we give it on the forum.....nice car but where the hell is the 7.
KnightSports is already making kits and performance mods for the Rx-8 but they say that the hype really isn't there. |

I don't think 4 gen will be a turbo. Japan is getting away from the turbo. The next GT-R will be a NA, 350Z is a NA, NSX stays a NA. Even the Toyota next gen sport car will be a NA. EVO and WRX will be the only turbo left.
BTW, 2004 is Japan release. Not US. |
No turbo!!! maybe u can add one:D so that means a 2005 release or so to the US if they plan on exporting it here?
1FAST7 |
Damn it! Didn't I say 2005 ? Read my post! I took a looooooooooooong time to write it :D.
|
BTW, seems like the RX-8 will change it's look again.

I highly doubt the 4th gen 7 will have twin turbo intercooled 20b, as much as we want it, we probably won't get it. Hopefully if there is a 4th gen 7 in the works or at least R&D then we will see some sign of it in a 2005 or so..

With all the money Toyota (did you know that "ota" is Japanese for "car"?) are investing in Formula One, they would HAVE to try and capitalise on it with an upper-end supercar, one would think.
Cheers, Dave |

Cheers, Dave I believe that neo has been saying that they are coming out with a higher-end super car for a while now.. |
Market trends, is there a possibility of the 4th gen 7 being priced to compete with such cars and the Dodge Razor, and eclipse, keeping it out of the Mustang category?
I'm very pessimistic about a 4th gen 7 coming to the states now, with the RX-8 coming I don't think there is going to be room for it. |
I'm thinking Toyota is making a NSX killer.
|
reliable and good gas milage??? lol
hahahahahahahahahahhhhhhhhhhhhhhahahahah sorry... lol jason |
The NSX- type R is coming out late 2003-early 2004 from what i have heard. Also, the RX-8 will supposedly have a 260 bhp platform rotary engine, and Petit Racing is already working on turbo kits and other parts designed for the new 8. I have also heard from a few magazines that the rx7 is most likely going to be a 2 door version of the 8. Just hafta wait and see.
|
Just hafta wait and see. If they make a new 7 It must be a different enough car to be considered a different car. A bastardization of the RX-8 is not what the enthusiasts in the forum are looking for. We need a true blue sports car, powered by a kick ass rotor. unique classic sporty design, sleek and powerful enough to be stamped with the heritage of the RX-7 family. |
