1994 FD3S Glovebox Removal

My searches have revealed nothing on the removal of "newer" glove boxes. The cross shaped plastic rod extending on the right side (probably a damper long ago) doesn't seem to a be removable. The top of it's housing appears to be pinned into metal structure. Any knowledge or ideas?

The part connected to the glove box is "c" shaped and wraps around a plastic rod. Just pull up on it and it will unclip
