IL SakeBomb Garage or Garage Alpha Issues??

Anybody having issues with SakeBomb Garage? I ordered door sills back in April of 2025 and never received the product! Communication has been only one text back in October that they expected more product in two weeks. It has been over 9 months! I always had good service from Garage Alpha in the past. Since SakeBomb took over, have anyone else had problems with them??

I just bought a few things from Sakebomb Garage within the last couple of weeks and had no issues at all. I received the parts I ordered around 5 days after placing my order. I also had no issue getting ahold of them via email prior to ordering.

I've had issues with both fulfilling orders in a reasonable time. I ordered from Garage Alpha before Sakebomb acquired them, so maybe they are better now? From Sakebomb, I ordered the aluminum headlight covers and they took something like 10 months longer than they said when I ordered them. I asked for a discount because they reduced the price of the item and they said I would but never got one. They have some decent products but disappointing customer service. I ordered the new LED headlights so we will see how long those take to get. They don't have an estimated date, so I'll just guess a year to get them if I'm lucky.

Have you tried to call or e-mail them? Sometimes it'll take a week or so to get an e-mail back (other times same day, it's pretty inconsistent), but when I called them, they got back to me the same day. You have to keep on them, and double check your order once it does arrive to make sure you got everything. It seems to be pretty standard for the rotary aftermarket (unfortunately) from what I've experienced, I'm still waiting on a lot of parts to finish my build that I ordered back in March/April from Turbosource, but received the last of my stuff back in November from SB (ordered around the same time period).

I emailed them in the past. What did you order from Turbosource that is taking a long time? I was looking at ordering a turbo kit at some point and had the expectation of of two months based on their 40 day lead time.

Exhaust manifold, install kit (downpipe, etc.), oil pan, inconel shields for exhaust manifold and turbo, and then the dbw elbow are all outstanding for me. Plus 4 injectors that were missing on a previous shipment. I know the oil pans are being made right now. Those lead times that are on there aren't accurate from my experience.

Took 8 months from order to delivery for their turbo kit. This doesn't seem to be out of the ordinary either.

You'll eventually get everything but their lead times mean nothing.

I've ordered thousands of dollars of parts from SB over the years and have had no issues with receiving the items or communication until recently.

Their RZ+ wheels took over a year to get. Every ETA they provided was missed by a long shot. When I inquired about cancelling my ordered they
indicated it would be a 20% restocking fee (even though my ordered never shipped). I was pretty disappointed by this last transaction.

Wow, that's unacceptable. The only way that'd make sense is if it was a custom order, but I don't think they did that with those. I had ordered about 10k in parts with them last year and it was chaos, things not shipped that were marked as delivered, extra stuff that I returned back to them. my last shipment I had ordered their washer fluid nozzles with a spare set that they didn't ship and just decided to cut my losses. I won't order from them again.

That's completely unacceptable considering that they were late to ship and it's not a custom item.

What is it with the RX7 aftermarket and ticking people off? I've been modifying cars since the 2000s and I've never been a part of a "community" where there are so many shops with bad reputations and aftermarket suppliers frustrating customers enough to complain. I get that people love to complain, but in 20 years of messing around with cars I've only had one truly bad customer service experience and have only been burned by one shop. Before I even bought an FD I had FD people I knew saying "don't go to that shop, don't buy from this place".

I want the new headlights as well but I’m not giving them money until they are available.

Yikes. That’s disappointing. I immediately swapped out the halogens in my
mk6 and mk7.5 to HID lamps because I’m like Velma from scooby doo with horrible eyesight 😆 any other options I should consider?

That's a bummer to hear. I'm planning on Snagging their RZ+ wheels as well but hope to not have to wait over a year for them when I do.

Lightbulb Communication and Fulfilment Issues at SakeBomb Garage

How's it going you guys? This is Heath with SakeBomb and first off wanted to check in and address all of the issues you guys have brought up and hopefully give some explanation / context. But first.... Anyone needing order updates, questions, etc.... we are now getting more emails per day than we can handle, if you don't hear back or want a faster response please call or text us 510-356-5556 we are always available 10-7pm Pacific... it will ring the shop side and parts side, either Chris or I can help you, or get you to the right person with the correct information

Order delays, stocking issues, etc. I'd like to comment on these problems that we faced the last year and what we're working on doing to solve them:
-Carbon Fiber: Our carbon manufacturer shut down for some amount of time in the beginning to middle of 2025... it took a number of months to reopen, each update request would be "3 months and orders will ship", "3 months and orders will ship"... unfortuantely that was all we could provide to customers. We JUST got the last shipment of licence plates and door sills from the entire 2025 year order. Now remember, every order customers have a different style carbon, color, font, etc... red, white blue, purple... 1x1, 2x2, honeycomb carbon... new style font, old style font. In order to stock every combination here it would be hundreds of SKU's. Not only has the price gone up, import tarrifs and shipping added a significant amount to the product cost... due to a salty economy, order volume has dropped off. So wait times have gone up. Fast, cheap, good... pick 2. The other option is, we increase prices significantly, overstock on as many door sills, licence plates, and other carbon items as we can, and fund that by increasing the price of all carbon parts. That's the only thing we can do to prevent order delays is overstock and keep an immense amount of product on the shelf, but we'd have to seriously increase prices to do that.

-Wheels: Same issues with wheels, they're all custom order and minimum order quantities... once the MOQ for production is hit the orders go through the production process, but that is a 3 month process, 6 weeks on the ocean, etc. So, if you had placed a wheel order and were waiting, that order had been processed alreday and could not be stopped unfortunately. Now for the wheels, to make things worse the new tarriff increases for aluminum into the US are INSANE... 50%... so we had to get really creative with meeing a certain order volume to then ship the order without having to request additional funds for shipping/tarrifs etc since everything made overseas has become nearly impossible to bring over without raising prices. That said, we did bring over additional wheels to stock (most popular sizes and colors)... MS02's in silver, RZ+ in Gunmetal, matte bronze, and silver. MS01s in matte gunmetal and bronze, and a couple finishes for the 99 spec RS+ wheels. Contact us via email info@sakebombgarage.com , text or phone 510-356-5556 if you're inquiring for in stock availablity as it's very limited.

Lot's of issues to navigate here due to the new tarrifs, poor economy, etc. At the same time as our costs to produce parts severely increased (and additional tarrifs on top), our order volume has dropped off due to the poor economy, leading to us reducing hours and positions from our fulfilment team. The result is long delays for email communications, slower than normal shipping.

We're actively working on solutions to help speed things up, or at least contact customers to let them know there's an issue or delay, and that's our big goal for the next few weeks. But........ in the meantime, if anyone sees this message and needs anything, call or text us 510-356-5556 and we'll get you information on any hangups or issues going on.

Thanks to everyone in the FD community, we're only here because of you guys.

-Heath

We have many in stock in various colors and sizes... give us a ring, I can let you know if we have the set you're looking for in stock or if it would be a special order.

thanks for the explanation; makes sense to me. Thanks for what you offer the community. Small businesses (which is basically anything rotary specific) are unfortunately always hit the hardest with things like these tariffs and economy issues.

BTW, my gold MS02s look awesome, and I'm glad I got them finally!

Also interested in the answer to this! I need new headlights before DGRR and these are at the top of my list. I'm really hoping they'll be shipping in time.

They had posted a couple of days ago on facebook that they're just waiting on the connectors to arrive. Hopefully that won't take too long.

FWIW, I received a wrong item on Saturday and sent an email. On Monday I got a shipping notice on the replacement.

No response to my email or even an address to return the incorrect one. But at least I am getting the correct part (hopefully) super quick.
