Yup, if i had to get another 90s jap car, def the MKIV. Although the nsx is sweet. As much as its the best looking car among the 4 (FD, supra, 300zx, nsx), the power might get boring after a while.

Still is sex on wheels though.

The only "realistic" car I would replace my FD with would be an R35 GT-R.

The dream list is quite extensive.

If i had to replace the FD i would get ether one of these with out the wing and scoop

dom240sx 12-23-10 06:35 PM

M3 E46 White :D

Sarusanj 12-23-10 06:58 PM

I had a C5Z before I got the FD. I'll never consider buying one again. Fast? Yes. Is everything very low quality considering it was $60k new? Absolutely. Like sitting in a Silverado. I had it before the C6Z's were "cheap" though. Unfortunately, I'll be selling my FD here in the next few months, only because I need the money. I'm going to have to get a cheap truck/suv DD, but also might try to buy a little 600cc bike if the $ is there. And I'll also keep and trackbeat the FC. :) Someday when school is over, I want an Exige S or to build a GTM. Unless something better comes along before then.

h2ojoshua 12-23-10 07:18 PM

I would have to go with a STI. Just because it has good TQ and is a four door AWD. Very practical.

Meiogirl 12-23-10 09:45 PM

I find it interesting no one has mentioned a Tesla or any other emission responsible vehicle! :DDDD

I wanted to add another one to my list, realistic one...Saturn Sky Redline.

Sled Driver 12-23-10 11:23 PM

I have my answer to your hypothetical question because after 10 years of ownership

I DID SELL MY FD……………& bought a Ferrari 360 coupe with the F-1 trans.

No regrets, other than I should have done it sooner.

As far as "resonable price" goes, thanks to the current stock & housing market, prices were at a all time low last sping when I bought mine.

^^Was wondering what happened to ya, M :). Enjoy the Modena...... years ago I was lucky enough to drive a modified (exhaust) 360 in anger and absolutely loved every second of it. Felt very very solid. Having said that, I still wouldn't trade my FD for one. I'd consider buying one someday though, wonderful car, congrats :icon_tup:

no_more_rice 12-23-10 11:51 PM

There are hard core FD fans, and then there is Rich. I think he will be laid to rest in his FD

Year? Cost?

Stocks must be doing well for some people

HiWire 12-24-10 10:28 AM

Ghetto-ass, but I thought about gutting and completely rebuilding an Eagle Talon Tsi AWD for the hell of it.

My brother had a '97 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T that was fun, but built like crap.

I would also do my interior upgrade in it, since it stinks of plastic. Good suspension basics that can be improved.

Gordon

doesn't the Solstice have a turbo'd version as well? i like the size of both cars.

no_more_rice 12-24-10 09:21 PM

Yes, Soltice GXP. The Sky looks better, though. Lowered with some fat tires they can be sick looking. I almost bought one as a daily, but the S2000 is a much better car in many respects, at least stock

Supernaut 12-25-10 01:34 AM

I like the sky redline

streetdreamzny 12-25-10 10:14 PM

a lotus elise\exige if possible turbo elise or exige

superdan50 12-26-10 01:43 PM

i love the elise\exige too, i just wish it werent such a stripped interior. i was trying to get a friend of mine to get one, but he saw that and passed.

Agree 100%. My choice would be the 2009 Solstice with the hardtop. that is a bad-ass looking car. Pull the 2.0 4 banger out and light it up with a LSX conversion! The Sky appears to me as over engineered. the Soltice has better lines.

I guess I may be biased as I was an avid fan of the Fiero back when I was younger.

Year; 2000

Cost; $74,000

Alaska Airlines stock has tripled in value over the past 2 years (& I owned a shit load)
Plus, as noted, I sold my FD (with all the mods separately) & my Lexus SC430.

I rented a Solstice on a 3 day biz trip awhile back. While the car may look cool it's very impractical.

How so?

Zero trunk space..............

With the top up open the clam shell trunk. The 1st thing you’ll notice is a big box sticking up in the center (that’s the gas tank). So the actual useable trunk space is in the shape of a "U".

If you take a weekend trip you can only pack small soft luggage.

But wait, it's a nice day, lets drop the top. Remember that "U" shape trunk? The top completely fills that void so all your luggage goes in the passengers lap. Because there’s no room behind the seats either.

As far as the Lotus Elise or Exige goes. Jump into the passenger seat with the roof panel (Else) on. You literally fall into the seat after sliding your legs into the foot well. Now try & get gracefully out. I had to brace myself with my hand on the ground & pivot out. At least as the driver you can brace yourself with the steering wheel.

Great track cars, but I would hate to run errands in one. You would grow pretty tired of the effort climbing in & out.

Those cars have no balls at all, with a v8 it might be super women but I prefer something with a little more sport and a little less victoria secret. Like the lotus's there's just something a little too cute about them.

Now that's a car with some BALLS, BALLER :D

Great choice, I still regret not snagging your FD.

MR_Rick 12-27-10 08:16 AM

If I had to give up the FD it would be for 3 reasons:

1. If money was an issue then I would get a S14 240SX

2. Need something more practical then E46 M3

3 If upgrade was an option then 996 GT3

superdan50 12-28-10 01:51 AM

its cool to see the similarities in vehicle taste between fd owners.

bryant 12-28-10 12:22 PM

i would never give up my car for anything else. would love having some of the cars mentioned but couldnt give up the fd.

staticguitar313 12-28-10 12:37 PM

would build a hard top turbo MR2
