It's at $48,000 right now...

$47,750 as of right now. This is the new high water mark.
|
Make that $49,000 and a minute to go...

Well, that was fun!
|
Damn. I though it might have broken $50,000!
Gentlemen... The market has finally recognized the FD for the great car it is. Prices will never be the same. There will be no cheap FD's that are nice. |
A sub 10K FD3S is officially NOT a $50K car.
|
This is really killin' me, guys. I stopped doing anything to mine because it's like, well, now every time I touch the car I'm ruining its value. I'm conflicted.
|
Any speculation on what the final bid would have been if it was an R1? I say $52K.

I don't miss by much often but I missed by a mile on this one. Great to see the price climb like it did! |
DAAAAYYYYUUUUUMMMM.... I did not think it was going to hit 50K (significant figures ;) )

As long as the joy of whatever mods you do is worth more than the potential depreciation, you win.

What a finish to that Bring a Trailer auction! Based on the comments, I do find it interesting how fragile people think the rotaries are - there even seemed to be some concern about a rebuild of a motor with 9000 miles on it! For me, with almost exactly that car - 93 VR (NT) Touring with black interior (of course, with 80,000 more miles on it!) it was kind of cool to follow along! btw - I play as BATboy on there :) |
Surprized fastrx7man hasn't stopped by this thread to make an appearance and comment about his recent listing/sale.

He traded his 93 red garage queen for that 94 silver driver plus like $30k. Pretty smokin' deal, IYAM.
|
The main takeaway from this sale is that most of us should consider calling our Classic Car insurance companies next week to raise our stated values. |

Smokin' deal is right.
I thought I'd see one go for 50 this year but not a 93 VR touring.........dang. Can't wait to see a low mileage 94 or 95 R2 listed on BAT, ebay etc.. AND remember this car officially sold for 49k plus 5 percent, plus tax, plus shipping................We are talking big dollars now. The prices on the FD just got real :) |

mechanically, go nuts! I can't even give away the FD stock SMIC, steering wheel, ast, etc. and I can't bear to toss them because similar parts on the supra are difficult to acquire and very expensive. |

eh I have a 6 speed supra and I'm definitely modifying the shit out of it mechanically. the body remains stock though, I refuse to even roll a single fender so yea, that has made it harder.

The things that are no longer made have already gone up a lot. The people taking advantage of this situation have been known to charge 400 plus for a 94/95 HVAC console etc... LOL Fortunately there are also lots of talented people out there making nice aftermarket parts for this car and that's becoming easier and easier so as with all things capitalism will cap it :) |
