That guy was a bit of an outlier, if base off of that price this VR will go for more. I guess we’ll see tomorrow, would love to see it go above $30k :)
Regardless of miles from what I can tell this VR base is also keeper so I won't be surprised at all if it sells for 30k or more. I'm predicting 28750 or 30k total cost. I think the market has cooled a little or I'd go higher. |

It does seem that more "ordinary", but nice, FD's are going for around $25-30.

There is a 68k mile 93 Red/Black 5 speed 2 owner car on FB right now that is overall decently clean that can be had for $16k. Owner believes its the original engine and it has some of the reliability mods. It is missing the factory IC Duct(im assuming it had a larger SMIC that was likely sold separately) and the front and rear bumpers have been repainted due to the common fading. Car is listed for $21k but seller will take $16k. Assuming decent compression its the best deal but most uneducated buyers will be terrified to look at it because of the missing IC duct.

This BAT car is going to hit $40k with fees. LOL Sometimes I think BAT has guys driving up the price. A 10 minute search would get you way more FD for the money.
|
I dunno. Seemed like one of the most "doesn't need anything" cars on the market in one of the most sought after trims.
|
Love the result, wonder what my R1 can fetch :)

Another nice base model selling for big money. They aren't making any more of them. The MB PEG on this forum with the BNR stage IIIs is/was a complete steal compared to this car though. The owner is also super cool and that means A LOT when buying a used car. If I didn't have issues at work I would have it in my garage right now :( PS However as David pointed out your typical/AVG condition FD isn't selling for 25k despite many being listed on various sites for 40k. |

I dont disagree it was modified about perfectly for a driver FD. However, I cant imagine aftermarket oil coolers with zip ties showing, a front bumper that needs a repaint, suspension mods or really any mods in general being a hit with what I assume is a collector purchasing this car at $40k with 55k miles. The more I think I understand BAT the more confused I find myself.
Wasn't happy with the non OEM oil cooler lines either. BAT has had some good deals and some really bad ones. People must just get carried away. |
My biggest gripe with that one was the overspray clearly visible on the driver side front fender.

A 93 MB with similar mileage just got listed, will be a good price point comparison for year/color/trim.
|
I also thought the VR car would come in around $30K, so that was an impressive price. As an aside, I had those Tokico shocks at one time and really disliked them because you could see the white shock clearly under the jacked-up wheel well with the stock springs. Not a good look!

I suspect 12k lower price. Year and model/trim is a huge difference maker in price but it's not a super clean example. I'll guess 24750. I think someone had indicated that the VR base had been repainted? If true hopefully it's a quality job. |

I was a serious interested buyer. I had a PPI done prior to the end of the auction. It needs quite a few items actually. Nothing earth shattering for a 25 year old car
but more than what was presented. Just out of curiosity what did they see that wasn't advertised? Did they put a paint meter on it or determine any panels had been resprayed? Thanks! |

I think the MB might hit that price after fees, if it does before fees then we are in pretty good shape haha. |

Picture #11, you can see some kind of overspray under the fender.

I just read the complete ad and he mentions paint correction so I suppose the lower area was repainted to remove all the rock chips etc... After the price on this one I'd say the market is ok. It seems two guys wanted it and bid it up. The seller did well. You are right, I'm probably 4k high on the mb car but dang I just don't know what to make of these BAT auctions. |
It's funny I'm just seeing this thread now. Been off here for a while...
I've always contended that the FD will only ever increase in value over time. I'd have thought the rarity and uniqueness, coupled with the blast they are to drive would have helped drive prices up more than they have. Still a lot of skeptics I guess over the power plant. I bought my R1 in 2001 with about 89k on the clock for $15K, which is closer to $22K in today's dollars than not. Has it gone up in value? Who knows...stayed the same at best. But this is one of the reasons I've not yet parted with it, though it's been sitting in various garages over the last nine years. Though I also have no intention of getting rid of it any time soon either so its value at the end of the day is moot. But I've always wondered why the Supra seems to have had the benefit of being over valued (IMHO). While it's potential is just as high as the FD, there isn't anything more special about it. At the end of the day, the market is the market. Someone wants to sell quick, so they list low. Or some kid gets one for cheap, and destroys it and sells it for even lower. Or us as buyers just don't see the value in these vehicles. I don't quite know why, but it is what it is as they say. |

The last 93 MB with 43k miles went for $25k before fees 2 months ago, there's a chance it can get close to $25k. I think it'll be a bit lower because of the 12k additional miles, but someone else might not care as much. BaT is pretty good at mixing the cars, they alternate car that suit different type of buyers, at least it seems that way to me. |

The FD is a special car and no doubt the values will continue to move higher so us buyers will need to adjust our thinking if we want to be owners.

say. All that said(and I’ve said this multiple times) the FD is a better driving experience when you are raising hell and the FD is way sexier when you are walking towards it in a parking lot or looking at it in your garage. Yet, the Supra dominates it in every other single category. I sold my Supra and always keep a running FD in the garage. I prefer the FD. Always have and always will but I’m not blind to the facts that has clearly separated the two in resale value. |

Thanks! done and providing new plugs and wires for the buyer. SakeBomb noted all pillow balls needing replacement, shocks being blown, radiator needing immediate replacement, engine not warming up to temp issue, oxidation on the mirrors, and of course the 16 year old tires on both sets of tires being offered. The seller noted in the ad that a motorcycle fell on the car and the fender was repainted so I wasn't worried about paint meter readings as I knew it wasn't original paint to begin with. All in all seemed like a great driver but I just don't value Base model features (aside from those seats : ) ) enough to pay that kind of money for one. |
