Does anyone know definitively if certain versions of the RM-01A had resonators near the flange? A vendor I'm talking to seems to think it does, but the pics from the old group buy clearly show a straight pipe from the muffler to the flange.

they don't list the RM-01A for an FD, https://www.fujitsubo.co.jp/products/legalis/rm01a/list

however they will do special orders, so you might get one https://www.fujitsubo.co.jp/bespoke/

Yes, it has been discontinued... I have checked with multiple vendors hoping they might have an old one in stock. I was able to place an order with Evasive, but they called me this morning that none were available. Still hoping to find a used one here.

I thought of this last night, 5Zigen made some FD exhausts that I think are in your wheel house, but I don't think they are made any more. Not sure but worth doing some searching.

Thanks for the tip. With how hard it is to find a nice single exit, that Cwest on eBay is looking better by the day:

Who knows, it might have even been made by Fujitsubo. They were a supplier to other brands that would just stamp their name, and I know Cwest never made their own exhausts. The price is a bit rich though for a used exhaust IMO, and the seller refuses to budge.

Single N1 is a nice exhaust, well made and sounds good.

You think $400 is too rich for a used exhaust for an FD?

It is $600+ after shipping, yes I think that is a lot for a used stainless steel catback. If the giant tip doesn't bother you, you can buy a brand new HKS Hi Power for $375 shipped, and there are other new catbacks available in the $600-700 range.

I'm amazed exhausts for the FD are so cheap.

A used 10+ year old polished fart can on a rotary, nah, I'm certain all the packing is still intact and the muffler has no scrape marks underneath too!

What would you recommend for an unresonated, single straight canister-style-muffler catback without silly gimmicks like an oversized or burnt muffler tip? There aren't many out there.

It sounds like you're after something very particular that isn't readily available off the shelf for a 25+ year old car, so why not consider going custom?

Get a muffler that looks how you like and take a trip to a fabrication shop that you trust.

How many FD exhaust are still in production? Most of the good exhaust we all know are probably discontinued. It seems like you can still order the FEED Sonic Ti, but it has a big muffler and burnt tip so probably doesn't really fit what you are looking for.

Not too many. But definitely enough options still available. I've been storing an HKS super dragger for years, can't wait to bust that out haha.

I like the look of the FEED Sonic Ti, and there is a version (or at least, there used to be) with a normal (not burnt) tip. It is difficult to justify $2,000+ for a damn catback though. At that rate I could almost buy a cheaper exhaust, PLUS Ohlins. Still, the FEED Sonic Ti is on my list, and if I could find a used one for a reasonable price, I would be all over it.

I do like the look of the Sonic Ti, mine is the version with big muffler and burnt tip. It has a smaller diameter tip than my Ganador Ti but the burnt color is more prominent, it also came with some kind of tip extension, not sure if it was an option or the PO had it custom made.

Not many 94mm pipe Greddy exhausts for FD around.

I bought one and j9fd3s tracked down the model for me as the Greddy Power Extreme BL.

Having heard it now on my car I can only assume BL stands for "Big Loud".

Seems to match OPs description. I believe j9fd3s says he found it as listed exhaust on white Greddy Wagon hatch demo car.

Stock 2 bolt flange downpipe compatable, 3.75" (94?/95?mm) mild steel piping, stainless main silencer with 5" (127mm?) slash cut tip.

Found this thread because im looking for a tip silencer..

To close this loop, I eventually ended up with a DO Engineering titanium cat-back that I purchased used from Yahoo Japan, and it is great. From what I can tell these early titanium exhausts were all made in the same factory, just with different tip styles and logos branded for FEED, Ganador, DO Eng, etc. Supposedly these old-logo titanium exhausts are louder than the modern FEED titanium units you can buy today.

i have a FEED Sonic SR on my FC, its also the 94mm mild steel piping, and it uses 4 bolt flanges and takes a gasket that Greddy still sells (Greddy used to sell the pipe, flanges and gaskets)
the Sonic muffler is a 100mm tip, so it was easy to find a silencer for it and it works amazingly well, i just bought an amazon thing, for proof of concept.
since the silencer is 2" it does restrict power over some rpm, which is ok for me.

Edit, its totally the exhaust i wanted when i was a kid
